Note from me Nomster: This character isn't and won't be approved by the DMs.
RETIRED! Storyline and goal complete!
Transformation of the soul.
First Name: Valge
Last Name: Kylm
Race: Half-elf
Age: In human, young in her mid-twenties
Height Approx 160 cm/5.3 ft
Weight: Plump and curvy without being overweight.
Eyes: Silver
Hair: Silver
Appearance:
~Appearance as a HUMANOID~ - known as Ryna
This female humanoid seems to favour brown garbs and keeps her face hidden beneath a mask. Her voice is muffled as she speaks and she seems to put a great deal of thought into what she says before speaking.
~Appearance as a DRAGON~ - known as Selara
The dragon's scales are a metallic brown with polished bronze highlights. The scales are smooth, flat and reflective and cover every part of the body except for the wing membranes. The scales on the chest and stomach are larger and brighter in colour. The edges of the wings are tinged with green. When the dragon moves, its with graceful movements almost like that of a feline. The legs are strong and end in sharp claws, with webbing between the toes and webbing on the back of the forelegs. There's no doubt that this an aquatic creature especially with the surrounding scent of sea-spray.
A large frill runs down the back of the neck stopping before the wings and continuing at the base of the sinuous tail, growing slightly larger at the tip. Smaller frills are on the head, they are flexible and reflect the dragon's mood. From its cheeks and eyes, a ribbed crest sweeps back. Hidden behind the crest are the earholes. Four horns, tipped with black, protrude from the end of the crest on each side of the face, with smaller horns on the lower jaw and chin. The eyes have a large yellow iris with a vertical darker pupil and glow in the dark. Its gaze is intelligent and powerful.
The dragon's snout is shaped like a beak and the mouth is full with sharp teeth. A pointed purple-grey tongue can be seen as the dragon speaks. Its difficult to determine the gender by the voice. The speech is generally harsh with hard consonants, many hisses and sounds from the deep of the throat - regardless of what language is spoken.
~Appearance of SHOCHRAOS~ (dragon companion)
Shochraos' appearance is on the whole similar to that of the larger dragon with the exceptions that Schoraos is smaller and has scales that are more yellow toned with less hint of bronze. The wings have flecks of green.
There's an injury that is healing on Shochraos' left back leg and on the stomach. The scales in the area look much smaller and softer.
The voice is of a different tone and not as deep and resonating. Shochraos doesn't seem to speak much, often in draconic and then addressing the larger dragon.
Appearance as a BADGER
It has black and white stripes on its head with the rest of the body being black. Spikes grow from the neck, identifying it as a dire badger (a natural creature, dire animals are said to be the ancestors of other animals). The ears are small, the nose sensitive and moist and the teeth sharp. It has a rather stocky body with short, muscular legs. The forelegs have long, sharp claws for digging. The gender can't be determined from the appearance. It uses a wide range of sounds, from hisses, growls, snarls but also clucks, snorts and coos.
Appearance as a TREANT
Unless occupied with strangling the life out of a foe with its branches, this treant doesn't look hostile. Various things can be seen dangling from its crown of leaves. Birds and bees often nest there. The voice sounds raspy and old, its not possible to discern its gender.
Appearance as ANY elemental
If the elemental speaks, its not possible to determine by the voice if its male or female. Regardless of shape, its of towering height and looks like any other summoned or 'wild' elemental. It doesn't seem to take any hostile actions unless attacked first.
Appearance as an AIR elemental
If it speaks, its at times a low whisper and sometimes howling and whistling. The shape it maintains seems to be that of a swirling globe surrounded by fast currents of air. These are warm but not too hot. Often there are various things whirling inside the center.
Appearance as a WATER elemental
Its voice sounds like flowing water at times or like the crashing of waves. It moves with rolling movement, like that of a wave but never seems to loose its shape or break apart. Its warm to the touch and it has a watery appendage on each side of its body. Often things can be seen floating in the center.
Appearance as a FIRE elemental
The voice whilst speaking is hissing and crackling. The air around it is very dry and hot. Its shape flickers and sends out sparks, often scorching the ground beneath it. It doesn't seem to need anything to sustain its fire.
Appearance as a EARTH elemental
The voice is deep and rumbling. It has what can be passable for arms and legs and a featureless head with a blank stare. The ground vibrates as it moves.
At first glance Valge's appearance seems unkept, she has leaves and twigs in her hair, mud on her boots, stains and moss growing on her armor. The more keen spotter will realize that it is part of nature's balance which shows itself to the untrained eye as rather chaotic. Her cloak is worn and torn, the lower trim muddy and the rest with stains, the rusty coloured ones being blood.
Valge isn't fussy about her own appearance and dirt, blood and grim doesn't disgust her. She keeps her nails long, 'talonlike', and has a habit of picking dirt underneath them when she is idle. A light and (for most) a pleasant scent of freshly turned earth surrounds her. She has a relaxed posture while keeping her back straight. As she her eyes gaze on you, you notice they are with calculation, weighing advantages and disadvantages against each other along with past experiences. A keen person may spot this calculation in her eyes. Her frame is curvy and plump in a pleasant way as if nature wishes to say that this woman is fertile. Its more attracting to those who share a bond with nature as well. While Valge, if cleaned up, isn't hideous she isn't amongst the most attractive human and elves.
Personality Profile:
Valge has a surly and uncouth attitude, meaning that she is often lacking charms, is illmannered and has a unrefined and awkward behaviour she rarely apologizes for. She doesn't like to make others too angry or upset and will back down rather than face a direct confrontation. Those who spend some time in Valge's company may notice that her behaviour doesn't stem from a want to be rude but from her personality and character.
She has a small collection of gems which she keeps in a leather pouch and has a daily ritual of polishing them all, and may even talk to them when she thinks no one is around. Valge is very possessive of her gems and will not easily part with one. While she does like gold, she prefers the gems for their variations in texture and colour.
Valge's possessive nature extends to people who are close to her and who she's decided to take under her care (although they might not know about it). She stays calm in most situations but anyone who harms her possessions, including people, will find themselves under her rage. If her own needs are easy to attend to she will attend other people's if she thinks them worth it. She sees herself as a rogue dragon, especially so after losing her true form.
While Valge herself can be very ignorant and uncaring about what she considers trivial matters, stupidity and foolishness annoy her greatly. Trivial matters are anything that she doesn't find interesting. She will pay attention to the most peculiar things and overlook what others would find important. She can be very impatient, even if its a trait she frowns upon in others and thus would never admit to being herself. At times she can be stubborn and very determined.
She looks up to Gildenfire, "The Druid Dragon", a gold dragon who went to live as a druid in The High Forest and she takes his learnings to heart. That nature must have it ways, and to decide what is wrong and what is right will disrupt the balance. A quote most druids hold dear; "All species are best served by allowing the hand of nature, however harsh, to cull weakness and disease from the cycle of life and to allow new life to flourish." She may recite the following after Gildenfire;
Guarded like a dragon's hoard,
A forest doth expire.
Life reborn and enduring,
Is wrought by gilded fire.
General Health: Good enough
Deity: Akadi & Io, The Ninefold Dragon
Valge has with her regained dragon shape turned more to Akadi and Io. Io is also known as Asgorath, and is a dragon deity. Every worshipper of Io has their own interruption. Valge will always refer to Io as a female.
Initial Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
She frowns upon blind lawfulness and doesn't fully understand the ways of Silver and Gold dragons, and even Bronzes who tend to be quite lawful. This is the reason she doesn't follow the more popular Bahamut.
Profession: Wandering druid
Base Class & Proposed Development: Druid, and druid all the way
Habits/Hobbies:
-Hoarding. This can include many things but most of all gems. Interesting items such as a few books, magical items and sparkly things are also hoarded.
-Ritualistic polishing and talking to said gems and hoard.
-Picking and sharpening her nails, or claws if shapeshifted when idle.
Languages: Common, Elven, Animal, Druidic, Draconic, Sylvan and Abyssal.
Weapon of Choice: Valge learned how to use a bow but is nowadays rarely seen with one. No weapons are seen on her except for a frying pan, it is imbued with a tiny spark of lightning which foolish people will soon enough feel. When shapeshifted in to an animal she prefers to use claws and bite and when in elemental shape the appropriate elemental attacks. If an air elemental, her preferred elemental shape, this is often pushing and pulling air and creating lightning storms.
Animal Companion: Lumi is a snow leopard and her animal companion, although Valge claims that she is simply an oversized housecat of a large breed. She shares a strong bond with Lumi, after buying her from a market as a kitten and raising her. In a sense, they are both outside of their natural habitats. After a mutual understanding, Lumi now lives on the snowy mountains near Nashkel.
Background:
That Valge used to be a bronze dragon is something that she will only tell if she thinks the person to be good and trustworthy. Her life as a dragon in The High Forest was peaceful and very secluded. After an incident with some sort of a spellcaster which is very blurry to her memory Valge is unable to return to her true form as that of a bronze dragon. However she can still shapeshift into animals. Her deepest fear is that she will never regain her true form and fly again, feeling the wind under her wings. She may sometimes slip in sentences that she isn't what she seems to be; 'your kind', 'my kind', 'you two-leggers'. She is often saved from these by letting people assume its her druid craziness.
Her personality and views stem much from her dragon life, as dragons have little need for tact in dealing with others who aren't their kin. Valge does therefore see herself as above other beings but is sure of this, and also wise enough, to not speak of it. For any dragon, that is a given thing anyway. She does see herself as a rogue dragon, especially so after losing her true form. Once confident, Valge is not sure who she really is any more. In her mind, she refers to her condition as temporary and thus refuses to think of herself as anything else than a dragon. Her current form is weak but she has learned that it has some advantages. In her darkest moments, she will comfort herself with that perhaps it is Io's will for her to see things from two-leggers eyes being so reluctant to do that prior. Even though cursed, she sees it as an opportunity for knowledge and will ask and seek as much as she can without jeopardizing her ultimate goal of that to find her true shape again.
Valge is not someone who will dwell much on the past as she will have plenty of time for that later in her Wyrm days. As a dragon she isn't very old, about young dragon age (150 years). Not that she'd ever tell anyone THAT! She'd rather have those who know her a dragon think she was old, mighty and powerful. Her young years show themselves as she is not as cautious as she should be and is willing to give anyone and everything a chance. By seeing and doing, is how one learns.
Reason for being in Sword Coast:
The Druids of Tall Trees, the druid circle in the High Forest, could not offer Valge much more wise words. If they were to make a conlusion, if would be that if Valge stayed close to nature and followed its path of wisdom she might become one with it, and thus regain her true form as well as the powers she lost. Valge still being quite young became frustrated at 'the old mens' ramblings' and decided that to ponder over words would change nothing. She left The High Forest with the hope of finding alternative ways to return to her birthskin, in search for powerful magic. Her powers has since grown and she is determined to continue the path of nature, even though she was not admitted to the druid circle in the region.
Misc Facts:
-Wave a gem under Valge's eyes and you have her immediate attention.
-Is constantly looking for areas she would label as a 'good lair'.
-Will call others impatient and foolish but will rarely admit to that fault herself.
-Sometimes Valge will pretend knowing things when she in reality has little knowledge. Sometimes she lets people think she is less intelligent and clever than she is. It can be difficult for others to understand which of these tactics are true.
-Is not above pretending to be an actual treant or elemental. Somtimes she will attach herself to someone like a summon. If people decide to worship her a little, she doesn't mind it as long as they bring offerings of gems. In return, she will bless them with spells.
-Trying to follow local customs doesn't translate to following local customs.
-It doesn't take much for someone to figure out she knows nearly nothing of gods, elven or human despite being a half-elf, or any of their customs and rituals.
-Valge was away for nearly half a year on a journey she doesn't speak of. During this time she learned to speak the Abyssal, the language of demons.
-Anyone mentioning that Lumi is not a regular house cat will be met with disdain.
-A former member of the En Dharasha Everae elves.
Goals: She has reached her goal of regaining her dragon shape. Her current goals are to spread the words of Akadi and Io, as she promised them. She has also taken a wyrmling dragon under her wings, as mentor and protector.
