Appearance: Unusually cheerful for a shield dwarf. Usually smiling or laughing. Usually has a mug in hand or close at hand. He is short, even for a dwarf. But what he lacks in height, he makes up for in girth, as he often reminds anyone who is within earshot. His beard is enormous and hangs past his waist, covering the entire front of his body. His eyes are blue with a gregarious twinkle that rarely fails to provoke a smile in those Durgan meets.

Personality Profile: Durgan is friendly and gregarious, particularly for a Shield Dwarf. He is always ready with a joke, smile, or raucous laughter. Most who meet him find him entertaining and fun. He is generally well liked, although some may find his almost constant stream of blaring laughter, coarse joking, and various bodily noises irritating after some time.

General Health: Very healthy despite, or perhaps because of, the copious amount of ale he consumes.

Background:
The youngest of his family, Durgan always looked up to his brothers and his sister. He learned many things from them and never forgot them. Durgan showed signs of intelligence at a young age and was intended to be a paladin like his eldest brother, Pudd. He became a squire of a paladin but proved lacking in the social skills required of the order and was relegated to being a sort of Holy Knight of Moradin. Durgan was bright but also commonly showed poor judgement and soon became a troublemaker, playing pranks and commiting minor thefts as a young holy knight. He was eventually discovered and ejected from the order of Holy Knights for his behavior. Unusually tough, even for a dwarf, he found his way to the clan brewmaster to taste the ale, as he could drink gallons of it with nary an ill effect. Eventually the brewmaster befriended him and began to share the secrets of brewing with him. Durgan's natural intelligence allowed him to excel and he soon became known as a Beldal or "First Drinker" the title given to dwarven brewmasters of the Ironfaar Clan.

Durgan always insisted on escorting his kegs of brew when they were sent to neighboring towns or clans. On these trips, he demonstrated an cunning and tact in battle. He gained toughness as a result of these campaigns but became mildly jaded.

Initially very shy, his constant work at the brewery and the constant interaction with other dwarves forced him to adapt to social skills and he soon became the loud, boisterous dwaf he is today. A little too loud, oftentimes.

When the Duregar took the Ironfaar stronghold, he was little more than a lad, yet fought with cunning and determination to defend his kegs and brewing equipment. He gained some small measure of fame when, seeing that his brewery was lost to the duergar, he knocked the blocks out from beneath his huge fermenting tanks, washing his foes away in a sea of ale and allowing many of his kin to escape. All there agreed that drowning in ale was far too generous an end to their dark foes.

Goals:
Since the downfall of clan Ironfaar, he has traveled with his siblings, seeking to restore the clan to it's former glory and return to his beloved brewing.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
-Durgan's naturally friendly disposition is currently at odds with a hatred of Orcs which stems from an event in which his elder brother, Pudd Ironfaar, was killed by orcs while escorting a caravan.

-Durgan seeks to regain his lost brewing equipment and recipies which were lost in the fall of the Ironfaar stronghold

-Durgan is always seeking rare drinking mugs to add to his collection.
