Background:
Artur was raised within a pastoral village called Eveningstar, to the East near Cormyr.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Eveningstar
Eveningstar is an agricultural community producing primary products such as milk, eggs, poultry, mutton, carrots, beans and parsnips, as well as value added goods such as cheese, parchment, wool and wine; all of which are sold at a weekly farmers market.
It was within the walls of the House of the Morning, that he spent his time in study and prayer from an early age. Basic weapons training was also provided, of which he seemed to take a particular liking to, unlike most of his fellow orphans who preferred the duel lifestyle of farming while practicing their studies.
Eventually Artur would feel compelled to leave Eveningstar and head West towards Waterdeep, to the Spires of the Morning, a grand temple to Lathander in Waterdeep at the northern spur of Mount Waterdeep.

Once there, he would eventually be recruited within the Order of Astor, a small restricted order of paladins and fighters sponsored by the church of Lathander.

Several years ago, in 1345, the Night of Temple Fires took place in Waterdeep, causing widespread destruction within the Temple districts and the Spires of the Morning itself.
http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/N ... mple_Fires
It was during this event, that assassination attempts were made on several high ranking members within the church, including the Dawnlord whom Artur and several others were assigned to protect. The bodyguards all lost their lives protecting their Lord, with the exception of Artur who was gravely injured. He lost his right eye as well as partial deafness in his right ear and was blessed with a holy sword for recognition of his efforts that day. This sword is both a weapon and a symbol of his devotion to Lathander and when wielded by only him, it glows with its Holy Blessing.
Four months later, Artur was back on his feet and slowly returning to a set routine, now with a glass eye to replace his lost one and having trouble hearing people to the right of him. He also found the lack of depth in his vision, a significant hindrance when it came to using ranged weaponry as well as making his reflexes in combat not what they once were.
He was politely approached to take up a higher position within the church, to better suit his current condition, however he gratuitously declined, instead believing there was more he needed to do out there.
Nowadays, with the rebuilt Spires of the Morning once again shining the morning light over the city of Waterdeep, Artur got his wishes at last and was sent South to the lands surrounding Baldur's Gate, so that he may help those in need etc etc...
Goals:
My goals short term, are to flesh this character out and try to establish some 'friends' for him or potentially join a Guild that could use his services. Basically get a bit of a footing in somewhere...
Long term- Respect art, liberty, nature and culture, promote betterment of oneself and strive to bring hope to their followers and others in the Baldur's Gate region. (until this changes)
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
The Dark Army of Night were responsible for the Night of Temple Fires...

-----
Artur has taken a strange obsessive attachment to his glass eye, yet if he ever violently falls to the ground or perhaps gets knocked down for example, his glass eye could potentially fall out and roll away. He would then feel compelled to chase it.. no matter where it went.
-----
Anything really, that involves a Paladin committing themselves to an act or quest for the greater good or order and in the name of Lathander. His integrity is solid and will go to great lengths to ensure his word is kept.

Anti-undead (who knew right?)
