Rin
First Name:
Rin
Darron
Last Name:
Melvooràn
Appearance:
Rin stands 1,72m tall and seems to be in her mid-twenties. Athletic build, perfect posture and traditional monks garments leaves no doubt about her background. Her dark skin appears to be free from major scars, but darker spots and markings on her body already evokes suspicion.
Rin almost always hides her head under a hood, so only black colored lips can be noticed. But if she ever takes it off, for a moment one could mistake her for a Succubus. Golden eyes, thick horns, markings on her face and completely straight hair of gold and black. Some will find her appearance revolting, some might find it striking and beautiful. In any case, even though her looks are undoubtedly tiefling, but she doesn't give off any negative aura, what makes her presence feel just like that of a human.
Darron is lean but with a slightly trained build, he stands an inch or two above the average human. (185 cm) He has mid-lenght dark red hair with bright golden eyes. He could be called handsome but there is something about him that simply feels wrong, and therefore he recieves very little attention from women. His age can be put to be between mid twenties and thirty. He is dressed in traditional wizard robes, not overdone with jewels and preferably in dark colors. He has a tendency to frown more than normal.

Personality Profile:
Very calm and composed, not expressionate. Rin appears to be a person who likes to keep her emotions to herself. She acts polite and with respect and is hard to provoke. Following the law and order seems to be her priorities so whenever that is broken she will try to interfere and bring justice. Rin might not be as kind as it gets, but as a monk of Ilmater she feels compassion for the oppressed, injured and sick and despises those, who inflict suffering.
Darron like his sister is very calm and composed in most situations, rarely letting his emotions get the best of him. But unlike his sister, he listens intently to his Infernal blood/urgings, but he has the calm to keep in check, only letting it out under extreme circumstances. When in a conversation Darron speaks in relaxed and pleasant manner, and appears as a confident and polite Scholar/Wizard. He is incredibly patient, and will very rarely rush things if he feels the time is not right. When he is agitated and under stress, whether during a tough combat or in a situation he does not have control over, he can easily slip into a cold and controlled rage. At this point he will not stop at anything to gain control over the situation. Darron feels that his goals are for the greater good, but to accomplish them he will have to do deeds and acts that others might despise. He knows himself that he is not like most, but he feels his intentions are pure.

Background:
Darron and Rin were born into an upper class merchant family who traded heavily in copper. Their parents are the heads of the family and skilled traders.
The family's estate is located in Secomber, a small town outside of the High forest. The Copper vein and source of their wealth is located at a secret location within the high forest.
The family has the last few centuries been "plagued" with getting children with Devil (infernal) blood in them, which is revealed in physical traits (Usually red, orange hair and golden eyes). And in some cases these children have been sent into the forest to die, but in recent history it has been more common to send them away.
When Rinelda was pregnant with twins, she and her husband consulted a local Cleric of Savras about how the children would be. (If they had infernal blood, and how strong it would be) As this was quite a common practice in the family, considering their past. The cleric casted a few divination spells to divine the future, and the outcome was devastating for Rinelda and her husband William. Their children would be born as Tieflings, but one would be Just and follow man's law. But the other would be as evil and corrupted as their infernal ancestor.
After the children were born, Rinelda and William kept the two children for a few years to see if they could get some idea of who would be the corrupted one the cleric spoke of. But sadly, they were still not sure. The boy would strongly resemble that of a human, and the girl looked much like a devil, so much in fact that no other member in the family has had this strong devil traits visible. In the end they chose to send away the girl, and part of the reason was the fact that she simply could not pass off as a human, and therefore could harm the family's reputation. Though the boy had something unnatural about him.
The girl was sent to a Monastery of Ilmater, in hopes they would keep her "Evil" under control. And the boy was kept in the family, to learn the family trade.
Several centuries ago the family was quite poor, but they were skilled spellcasters. Some claimed they had been trained by powerful elven wizards. Though the family records spoke nothing of this. At some point one of the most powerful of them Named Derronial managed to summon a powerful devil, and offered something (The family records does not speak what was offered) in trade for something to make his family wealthy and powerful. After the pact was sealed the Devil gave Derronial the location of a very rich copper vein, and placed several wards on the mine to prevent others from scrying or finding its location.
And within a few short years the family's reputation and wealth grew considerably, and continues to grow to this day. But the infernal pact has its disadvantages as well, even though the family has tried to keep its past a secret. Other wealthy nobles are starting to get suspicions and ideas about their past and their problem with getting tieflings or others with infernal traits.
Darron was pretty much raised to become the heir of the family fortune and business, from a young age he was educated in the business art. It became apparent from an early age that Darron possessed a keen intellect, and was therefore thought to be the perfect future patriarch of the family, and leader of the business aspect. And for several years William and Rinelda believed this as well, but they were always uncertain of the boy. And therefore they consulted the Savras cleric on several occasions to confirm that they made the right choice, but the priest could tell them nothing but what he had once said. And by the time Darron was in his teenage years, it became apparent to his parents that they had made the wrong choice. His Infernal heritage was much stronger than first suspected, his human appearance had fooled them. And from hearing the rapports of the Ilmater temple that housed his sister, it made them even more certain. Darron was the one the prophecy mentioned would become as corrupted as his infernal ancestor. Rinelda and William knowing that it was already far too late to change their mind now, decided that they would try and teach Darron about his origins, hoping that he would become disgusted when learning about the ways of his ancestors. But once again they made a wrong choice, as this only increased Darron's beliefs, once he had felt an outcast in the family. But now he knew that there was a reason for his feelings and beliefs. In secret Darron began spending a huge sum of his personal wealth on arcane teachings, hiring in some of the best skilled wizards in the country to teach him.
Over the years while studying the arts and infernal lore, Darrons tiefling traits grew to such extent that merely being in his presence was enough to feel the wrongness about him. And other members of the family felt uneasy being in his presence and they would even avoid eye contact. But all this did was to fuel Darrons continued thoughts that he was an outcast in the family and that they disliked and feared him. The only person who treated him as a normal person was his sister, who would come and visit on rare occasions. (Important family events or holidays)
When he reached his late twenties, Darron decided it was time to learn the truth about his origins, the real truth that his parents had avoided telling him, or perhaps they themselves did not even know it. So he sought out the same cleric who had told his parents over twenty-five years ago that they would become tieflings. But this time he wanted the Diviner to learn the real truth about his family, and he was willing to donate a huge sum to his church as a payment.
Two weeks later Darron was gone, he left his family behind and fled west. He had taken the rest of his fortune and some clothes with him. The family was both relieved and saddened at the same time. But they feared what would become of their son. The same night he had fled the local cleric from the savras temple was found murdered, with several ritualistic markings carved into his flesh.
Rin was send away to a Monastery so young, that it became what she really called home. Discipline, law, order, compassion, honor and many other values were her daily life and aspiration. The monks in the monastery all looked past her obvious infernal traits and soon knew of her kind heart and strong sense of justice.
However, when she went to her actual home she would get cold, suspicious glances from her family members. She could often hear them whispering behind her back. It was hard to withstand for such a young girl and it would often leave her sad and confused. The only member of the family who she truly felt welcomed by was her brother. A single person outside the monastery who wouldn't mind her intimidating looks. Even though she didn't go home often she always looked forwards to meeting her brother and mostly spends time with him while there.
When Rin become a teenager she actually realized just how different she is from the rest, and how negatively her heritage has influenced people's impression of her. The world outside the monastery felt so much colder and unforgiving than she ever imagined. Since then, whenever she went outside, she rarely took off her hood which covered her horns and generally most of her face, to avoid the sour attention of bypassers. She knew the general information about her kin, since her brother shared most of it with her over the years, but knowing that she was this way is a side-effect of some old dirty deal, combined with the rest of the problems she had for being a tiefling, slowly made a scar in her allegiances.
Going home, however, surprised her. All of a sudden her family started greeting her with more respect, and Rin could notice a hint of guilt in their eyes too, yet she did not quite understand why. She felt something was wrong and led by curiosity and worry she asked her mother to share the truth with her. After a long silence she got a confession from her, about the priest and the prophesy, the decision to send one child away, the mistake and a long apology. Rin was old enough to understand her parent’s actions, but now she got concerned about her brother...
Rin did not let her brother know of her suspicion, and she continued treating him with the same respect and friendliness as she always did. Old bonds made in childhood never dulled for her and she had hopes, that even if Darron does have bad intentions, she would be able to lead him back to the right path.
She continued her training and serving to the monastery, looking for all the knowledge she can get about the inner peace and life of harmony, believing she can perhaps pass it on to her brother. But all Rin noticed was that her beloved brother is only turning for the worst. She realized, that the only way to keep him under control is to be stronger than him. She started training even harder at the monastery.
After a few years she received a letter that her brother has fled the household and that he might be up to something. She knew she has to act now. Rin consulted with the master of the monastery (a man she respected above others) and left the institution for what was said to be "self-research and spreading the word of Ilmater" but the true task is to convert her brother, and if he falls too low - stop him in any means.
Goals:
Maintain the law and harmony, keep Darron's evil in check, Help the suffering.
Gain in power, Find his infernal ancestor, Travel to Nine hells
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
If she gets to know what was given in return for the demon pact made generations back, she would get a test of faith and new goals. Rin is torn between following the law and not betraying her brother. Would have to encounter her brother in a battle if he was to commit a big crime. Rin is looking for mages and priests who would know more about rituals of locking down evil.
Any encounter with Devils would initiate some interesting RP for Darron, as he would try and communicate with it. To learn more about the nine hells and perhaps of his origins, and how Infernal pacts work etc.
And of course his relationship with his Sister, and how that affects his intentions and goals. Perhaps her beliefs might rub of on him or the other way around.
