Truvial - A mad world.

Name : Truvial Archon
Age : 18
Class : Fighter
Deity : Myrkul
Alignment : Neutral Evil
There's a certain madness to the world. A certain madness indeed. The evil plot their little ploys, whatever the new scheme may be. Money, power, or the simple thrill of the slaughter. The good always play their part, stopping them at the height of their power, realigning the broken scales back in favor of the common man. The evil villain vanquished thanks to some outlandish weakness they simply overlooked, or destroyed by their own ego and hubris in the height of their power. All of this is played over and over again, each villain thinking they themselves will prevail and each hero rising up and stopping them, thinking themselves invincible. It seems no one ever learns. Except for those like me.
We sit in the background. Watching this depressing merry go round of events play out in sequential and predictable order. All of you people and your simple goals. Wealth and power if you are "evil", glory and the safety of others if you are "good". Such simple goals...such...mortal...goals. We are those that do not give second chances, we do not leave you to be killed by our incompetent followers, we do not leave simply because we think you are dead. We don't each oppose you directly. We join with you, until you trust us, you would give your life to protect ours. Then we simply walk up to you, and carve your heart from your chest.
If I learned anything from my early life as a simple peasant boy, it would be that everyone. EVERYONE. Has these rules, these unspoken oaths and rules. I care nothing for your games. Evil and good, simple words. You may brand me evil for killing a fellow adventurer as he is steeped in goblins, instead of lending my helping hand. Does it really make me evil though? What if he had been evil? Would I have done the world a favor then? What if he had wronged someone dearly in the past, though lead a life of utter devotion to good afterward. Would not the person he wronged perceive my act as good? Simple subjective terms, that have no power over me. In a fight between two warriors it is understood between them, no low blows, no poison, no striking when it is unexpected. I will play by your rules, while it is convenient for me. The moment your back is turned for a moment, or the opportunity presents itself. I will land my foot in your groin and then bury my scythe deep into the back of your skull.
All philosophical arguments aside however, there is a simple truth to the world. The only truth. There is death, and after death there is the eventual creeping darkness of nothing. Beyond the universe, there is nothing and one day it will take the universe. Gods and all. Then the universe will be reborn and all of this will happen all over again. So I search, I search this world, this plane. For nothing, for a way to end not the reign of all that is living, but existence itself.
In the meantime, until such a means to the final end has been found. I work for Myrkul, I figure if I cannot find the final step. I shall find the in between. Maybe through working my blade through thousands of my enemies will I find the nothing I am searching for, or maybe a way to cause it to crash into us from beyond the Farplane. I first seek mastery of myself and my weapon. Through which many souls have already passed, I shall work my way up the spiritual ladder, to one day become the god I work for. Then I shall have the power I require, to bring an end to everything. Unfortunately, I will require help to become stronger, so my end can be achieved. So I must play my part, the part in this broken society of a light in a dim world. I shall fight "evil", as a compatriot of "good". I wish I could see their faces, as I ascend to power, realizing I was "evil" all along, but I will not indulge myself, for I will not allow my plan any degree of failure.
