Agnes "Madame Aggie" Gril'kern

First Name: Agnes
Last Name: Gril'kern

Appearance: Aggie has the misfourtune of being a particularly unattractive half-orc. Her eyes are small and beady with a reddish tinge. He mouth is large and sports a pair of tusks that are crooked and have forced the rest of her teeth to crowd together. He nose is small and pug-like. As she approaches middle age the first signs of wrinkles have begun to set in.
Beyond her rather unattractive face her overall looks are not helped by her size. Aggie is a corpulent woman, bordering on obese. Her neck is jowled, she has a round stomach, ample bosoms and wide hips and massive legs. At 6'2" and 276 lbs her size and her orcish face make her a rather formidable looking woman.
In sharp contrast to her physical appearance is her style of dress. Aggie insists on wearing the finest gowns, funnelling much of the coin she manages to obtain into her wardrobe. She has a penchant for flamboyant hats, stylish boots and upscale gloves. Her hands, neck, wrists and ears are heavily adorned with jewelry, with a clear preferance for large, flashy gems and silver. She carefully maintains her hygiene and is generally scented with fine fragrances.

Race: Half-orc
Age: 36
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 276 lbs
Eyes: Reddish Brown
Hair: Black, short and heavily curled.

Personality Profile: Having led a difficult life, Aggie has learned to first and formost take care of herself and is highly independent. She is slow to make friends, rarely choosing to trust most people she encounters. She is not an unkind woman, however she will always choose to ensure she has what she needs and her own comfort and safety are seen to. While she is not above minor crimes she does not generally engage in or look well on things like banditry or murder.
A boisterous woman she enjoys heavy eating, heavy drinking, bawdy humor and is quick to laugh. However her orcish blood will show through in in her temper. Not overly violent, but if she feels insulted or threatened she is quick of lash out with a hard slap to the face with her heavily ringed fingers. She finds it difficult to restrain her tounge against those who insult her orcish nature or treat her poorly. Few things move her to anger as quickly as fat jokes.
Due to what she feels is the unfair abuse she has suffered for much of her life, Aggie has a way of coming to the defense of those she feels are underdogs, or those she sees as being treated poorly for things such as their race or appearance, though within the wider cultural context of the lands she lives in. While she might come to the defense of a tiefling being verbally abused she is as likley as anyone else to see drow or monster races as evil and dangerous.

General Health: While she is in overall decent health, thirty six is a bit older for a half-orc than a human and she seems closer in age to a fifty year old human than her actual thirty six years.
Her weight also does not aid her health, she is slow moving and will avoid running except in the most extreme circumstances. Even then she cannot mange to move quickly for any length of time and being forced to do so leaves her winded and sweating very quickly. She often relies on invisibility when in danger, keenly aware that she is not suited to outrunning almost any foe.
Having been a fairly agile woman in her younger years she still has nimble hands, quick spellwork and a sure footed gait. However due to her size she is no longer able to move quickly on her feet or engage in acrobatic or otherwise deft physical movements of her bulky frame, further hindered by her tendency to wear tightly fitted long gowns.

Deity: Not a woman of deep faith, but more than intelligent enough to know that the gods are real and the risk of not honoring one Aggie tends to offer prayers to a variety of gods. He mother having been a priestess of Shaundakul and her recent travelling ways Aggie considers him her patron god. She also offers her loyalty to Sharess, a reflection of her days as a brothel Madame, and Mystra due to her study of the arcane. She also occasionaly offers prayer to Luthic, however this is something she make sure no one becomes aware of.

Initial Alignment: Neutral
Profession: Wizardess, former brothel Madame
Base Class & Proposed Development: Wizard. Hope is to end as Wizard 25/Archmage 5

Habits/Hobbies: Eating and drinking is likely the greatest comfort in Aggie's life. She can go through food at an astonishing rate, often eating as much in a single meal as a grown man might in a day. Ales and wines tend to disappear down her throat by the bottle in the matter of a few swigs.
Perhaps as an over correction to her appearance Aggie strives to maintain a highly groomed and fashionable appearance and will go to great lengths to ensure her garments, jewely and perfumes are of the highest quality she can manage.
Due to her love of food and her independent nature Aggie is a highly skilled cook. She can make use of fine ingredients or fresh game to create delicious meals with accomplished skill.

Languages: Common, Orc, Draconic, Arcane, Abyssal and Infernal

Weapon of Choice: Magic, Staves, daggers and crossbows and her signature ring covered face slap.

Background: Agnes' mother was a human priestess of Shaundakul, who would travel with caravans around the northern Sword Coast. During a raid by orcs on one caravan trip her mother was captured. While it is best not to dwell on her experience in captivity, suffice is to say that when she was rescued she was pregnant with Agnes.
Her mother never recoverd from this experience and settled down in Waterdeep with Agnes, feelin the cosmopolitan nature of the city would allow Agnes a life a bit freer of intolerance than many other places. Despite this the other children were very much afraid of Aggie as a child and she combatted her lonliness by finding solace in books. In one old used tome she find a minor scroll likely tucked in and forgotten. Fascinated Aggie managed after a time to understand the magic of this scroll, beginning her studies as a Wizardess. Due to the common perception that a half-orc would never excel at magic she was not able to find a teacher and her magic skills are self-taught, progressing rather slowly at first.
After her mother died Aggie had to fine a way to care for herself. In time through connections she developed with the criminal and unsavory tavern elements of the city, the only places she could find tolerance, she came to set up and run a brothel, styling herself "Madame Aggie". During this time, to look the part, she developed her signature style of fine gowns and heavy jewelry. Few commoners who visit the brothel ever dared cross her, a large and fearsome appearing woman, most rowdies needed only to see her approach, loose a minor cantrip and they quickly decided better of causing a rukus at her establishment. This fearsome protection of her "girls" and her ability to keep out rifraff soon gained her place a reputation as one of the finer brothels in the city.
This also brought the attention of the criminal elements of the city. Those who aided her with the establishment expected a cut of the profits. At first she complied, but as time passed the demand for coin grew. Eventually fed up she finally refused and began to withhold payment.
Not to be stiffed by some fat orc woman it was not long before a local crime boss sent thugs to her place. Late in the night the door was kicked in and men with knives and torches began to attack the girls and light the brothel aflame. Though she offered a fierce defense, fighting in her nightgown, manging to kill several of the attackers with spells, and another by sinking her tusks into his throat as they struggled she was no match for the numbers against her. Fleeing to her chamber and barring the doors she gathered a bag of her clothes and jewels and made a leap from the window of her flaming establishment. Knowing they would not be satisfied to leave her alive she pawned some of her rings and booked passage on a ship to Baldur's Gate, deciding to leave her old life behind and refocus on her magic, both as a new means to make a living and to gain sufficient strength to defend herself should those who ruined her brothel ever come looking for her to finish the job.

Goals: To survive. To use her magic and her talents to make a new life for herself as an adventurer. To gain sufficient power to defend herself in the event her old enemies ever track her down. To maintain her sense of style and flair.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Due to her temper the mistreatment she recieves, from elves in particular, is likley to lead her to some trouble.
Her mind is often filled with worry that the criminal element of Waterdeep she chose to defy, then escaped, may some day come looking for her.
