Baldur's Gate: The Party Experience

Send me an application by filling out this template. I will pick eight characters from all the application forms. These eight will be part of the party experience. Be sure to PM me the application. Do not post it publicly. If I get too many “similar” characters, I will post a notice of what sort of characters have already applied.

FAQ: (read first!)

Q1.) “But DM Xzar, isn’t this favouritism?”
A.) No, it is not. The party will be focused around a “low level, non-epic” experience. While party members may obtain things like unique items, they will not receive epic gear and will ultimately have minimal impact on the server.

Q2.) “Will I be able to pick any build for my character?”
A.) No. Classes are restricted to Priest (cleric of any diety, restricted to server domains), Druid, Mage (wizard of any type), Bard, Thief (rogue or swashbuckler), Ranger, Barbarian, Fighter (or man-at-arms) or Paladin. You may multiclass to a maximum of two character classes.

Q3.) “Will my character grow endlessly?”
A.) Yes and no. Your character is hard-capped at 45.000 experience points. This also means that certain equipment can’t be equipped. However, through your adventures your character may obtain “conditions” that cannot be gained through normal play. Like scars, a missing limb or some sort of unique divine boon.

Q4.) “Can I whip out my character at any time?”
A.) Unfortunately no. Your character is restricted to scheduled “party sessions”. If your character were allowed to go and adventure at leisure, it would break the whole party experience, allowing it to get ahead of its companions.

Q5.) “So I have to come up with a whole new character for this?”
A.) That is correct. Any party member will have to start at level 1 with ZERO experience. Should you accidently receive a few hundred XP before meeting up with the rest of the party (RP XP at the Nexus, for example), I will be sure to remove it.

Q6.) “What about gold and equipment?”
A.) You will be stripped completely. But you will receive and start out with unique CUSTOM clothing, weapons and armour according to your character’s biography! So be sure to add some interesting details.

What is "The Party Experience" ?

The Party Experience is an original Baldur's Gate-type of party that offers similar gameplay to the original game. Where your fellow party members are roughly your level, and you get to relive the excitement of finding MAGICAL items and questing through familiar areas. Undertaking actual quests for NPCs and interacting with the world through RP. This all is made possible during a DM run session that will likely take place on weekends.

(Three short paragraphs. Remember, I’ll have to read through numerous applications, so please don’t go overboard with writing a biography. Ah, I didn't think of the necessity of restricting the number of participants. That makes sense; it's impossible to manage a party that's too large.
I'll bow out; hopefully some newer players get to experience this!

Oh, nonsense. I might just raise it to a party of 8, since it is possible that not all players can always make it on the same date.

Now send in your application! :)

Well, let me know if only a few people send in applications. I really want to join, but I don't want to take a spot from a newer player, you know? So let me know when the deadline is coming close?

What is this?!!

You are playing a Baldurs gate series style Group game without the effective use of a player pause button?!??!!!!

CALAMITY WILL ENSUE I ASSURE YOU!!! ESPECIALLY IF CHARRAJ PLAYS A CASTER!!!! I WARN YOU NOW!!! TURN BACK!

Anyways, sounds fun and if it works out well there could be wider applications for this. Have a good time.

Can you give an idea of what time of day you would like to run it? I think that'd be kinda important to know before dedicating to a table-top experience.

What's wrong with Swashbucklers?

I was wanting to gauge interest and player's prefered timezones first. Oh right, forgot to add that to the template! Good call Lampir.

Charraj wrote:What's wrong with Swashbucklers?
You can create a bard-rogue? Not good enough? What about a fighter-rogue? Try to convince me. Why should I include swashbucklers? :)
