The Return of the Cursing Virgin

The uneasy silence of the empty dock’s midnight is cut by the young woman’s enraged, ear-splitting curses. She vehemently kicks heavy barrels of wine and half-open freight out of her way as she stumbles down the gang-plank. “About time,” she grumbles as she firmly plants her feet on the dock and checks to make sure all her things are present; the crooked crew of the Sea Hag had done little to ensure her trust on the Voyage from Luskan. She had slept with one eyes open, had on her blade, if she slept at all.

Things had changed. She had expected so, but was unprepared for the emaciated child begging for change, cringing as his stomach churned, growling for food. She hands him a few coin and says gruffly, “get some food,” then heads into the city. Cursing under her breath she wonders, “what happened here,” as she finds her way to the Blade and Stars.
