First Name: Hrotghar
Middle Name: Delzoun
Last Name: Gutbuster

Appearance: Hrothgar looks like the dwarven equivalent of an average joe. Short, stout and muscled, he has a somewhat rare copper-red mane and bushy beard, both well tended, and a rotund belly. Contrarily to other dwarves, though, his hygiene is somewhat good (meaning, he washes himself. From time to time), despite his face being constantly dirty with smoke and cinders, due to the countless hours he spends working inside a forge. His typical everyday attire consists of a worn yet carefully tended plate mail, with every kind of measuring tools and weaponsmith tools strapped to his belt. A bag used to contain blueprints for siege engines (one of his greatest passions), alongside a worn but equally tended hammer he uses both for smithing and for bashing heads, can also be seen at his left side. The only thing marring his otherwise pleasant face is his blank and damaged left eye, that he lost during an accident.
Race: Shield Dwarf
Age: 85 years
Height: 4'4''
Weight: about 200 lbs
Eyes: Sky Blue
Hair: Copper-red
Facial Hair Style: long bushy beard

Personality Profile: Pragmatic, dogmatic and stakhanovist are all adjectives that fitly describe Hrothgar's personality. Besides from being a dwarf, he is also a devout cleric of Moradin, and work is his life's greatest passion. Of course, he is also interested in the betterment of his kind, and in reconquering/reclaiming the long lost glory of his people. Strangely for a dwarf, Hrothgar is somewhat polite, considering that he shows some measure of restraint towards his bodily functions (Ergo, he tends to burp and fart less often, at least when non dwarves are around), and he usually addresses strangers with words that have a vague semblance of politeness (Charisma 8, opposed to the average 6). This politeness fades quickly when he deals with half-orcs (whom he refers to as "half-swines") and tieflings. Hrothgar's mind has a razor sharp focus on the problems at hand (INT 14, WIS 16) and is often apt at resolving them in innovative ways, but his pragmatism also leaves very little room to fantasies and abstract reasoning - unless said abstract reasoning has to deal with new ways to forge weapons and siege engines, a field in which he excels. Dutiful, stern and even-handed in his duties as a priest, Hrothgar shows an impressive orthodoxy towards Moradin's teachings, and he is very unlikely to support new ideas and ways of thinking, with the due exception that he believes in cooperation with other races (at least to some degree).
General Health: Excellent. He's a dwarf.
Deity: Moradin
Initial Alignment: Lawful Neutral - leaning good
Profession: Priest among the dwarves, weaponsmith, siege engineer. Doesn't mind at all bashing heads.
Base Class & Proposed Development: Cleric 26/Warrior 4
Habits/Hobbies: Hrothgar has the habit of smoking cigars (though he's happy to smoke pipes when cigars aren't available) on a near-constant basis, regardless of the situation. He can be seen smoking cigars when smithing new weapons, he can be seen smoking cigars when washing himself (the rare occasions in which he washes himself, to be precise), he can be seen smoking cigars even while fighting! Hrothgar is the typical person completely unable to stay idle, so when he has nothing to do, he is more than glad to seclude himself inside a smithy, working on new weapons and siege weapons designs. He has a tremendous fascination (Sometimes bordering on insanity) with siege weapons and engines, and he can always be seen dismantling/assembling new ones when his priestly duties do not call him.
Languages: Hrothgar speaks Dwarven, Common, Elven and Celestial
Weapon of Choice: Warhammer

Background:

Hrothgar was born in Silverymoon from Sigfrida and Skjor Gutbuster, both members of a dwarve clan that traces its roots to the time of ancient Illefarn, a kingdom in which dwarves and elves used to live side by side in peace and cooperation. After Illefarn's fall, Clan Gutbuster migrated to Citadel Adbar before settling in Silverymoon, continuing the tradition of cooperation with other races. One thing must be said about Hrothgar's upbringing: while it is true that he grew up in a place marked by a stark tolerance and open-mindedness (even befriending a few elves in the process), he never strayed from the dwarven ideals of old, remaining dutiful to the dwarven way of life.

His mother, a cleric of Berronar, instructed her son from a very early age on the Morndinsamman, the dwarven pantheon, while his father Skjor, a dwarven defender and weaponsmith of some renown, tasked with the maintenance of Silverymoon's siege engines, taught Hrothgar everything he knew about the subject, contributing enormously to the development of a morbid fascination with siege engines in the young boy. While Hrothgar's life in Silverymoon went smoothly and peacefully, he always felt that something was missing.

The turning point in Hrothgar's upbringing happened in what looked like an average day of his 30th year of life. A delegation of dwarves from Adbar came to Silverymoon to visit their cousins that lived there, and despite the initial warm meeting between the two groups, things soon started to escalate when, after lots of drinking and feasting, some dwarves from Adbar implied that their brethren living in Silverymoon were not following the dwarven ways of old by mingling with other races. Upset and with lots of ale flowing through their veins, the dwarves of Silverymoon quickly answered back from this insult with another one; insults began to devolve into aggression, and soon a less-than-friendly brawl erupted.

Shocked by such a display of mistrust between dwarves, Hrothgar fled the brawl as quickly as he could, until he reached a small shrine dedicated to Moradin by chance. Entering inside the place - perhaps hoping to find some shelter - he was quickly greeted by a priest named Morghul, that immediately inquired about Hrothgar's anxiousness. The young dwarf began to speak to the elder priest about his concerns, namely that dwarves should not bicker among themselves, and that opening up to other races - with the due caution and time - is not treasonous towards the dwarven way of life. The priest assuaged Hrothgar's fears with a long and wise speech, citing all the times that dwarves worked alongside other races and all the good that came from it. Sure, those glories of old ended in tragedy sooner or later, but most often than not it was because of foreign influences and not because of infighting and lack of good will.

A few hours later, Hrothgar's father finally came to the Shrine of Moradin and was about to give his son a good birching for having fled the brawl, but Morghul stopped him just before he could start, claiming that his son made some very good points. Hrothgar returned home with his father soon after, but the old priest of Moradin had intrigued him so much, that the next day after that episode, Hrothgar returned to the shrine to have another chat with Morghul. And he returned there the day after, and then the day after again, and again...until he realized that, perhaps, entering Moradin's priesthood was the best way he had to be of help to the dwarven cause.

Years quickly passed by for the young dwarf, until the day in which he took the oaths of a Sonnlinor, in front of Moradin's altar, much to his parents and his mentor's pride. Shortly after, he entered in service of Silverymoon's army as a siege engineer and battle priest. A fierce temper, a fascination with all things explosive/mechanical, and having some of the best siege engineers as mentors caused Hrothgar's siege engineering skills to improve dramatically. His disposition and total number of intact eyeballs, however, did not.

It was only after decades of service as a field engineer and battle priest that the dwarf got wind of a new, budding Dwarven nation in the south, the Kraak Helzak. After giving it some thought, Hrothgar realized that his help would have been much more needed there, where his kin's struggle for survival was still raging on. After bidding his family and comrades in arms farewell, Hrothgar took his possessions, and headed South, towards the Sword Coast.

Goals: Become one of the best dwarven smiths and siege engineers available, in Moradin's name. Aiding his fellow dwarves at the best of his capabilities.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: will be developed in game through RP
