Background:

Zav'raan was born in the city of Shimmering Webs (Ched Nasad), as the second child of a Priestess from one of the weaker houses in the city. Already from an early age he showed extremely chaotic tendencies, he showed no compassion nor any restrictions on who he harmed. Despite his traits being something that should or would be appreciated in a drow society, they shunned him for his nature, finding him too extreme even for them.

Over the years Zav'raan did not change much, since they avoided him and left him alone, his negative traits only grew and made him even more unpredictable. All this changed however when the day came when his mother was fed up with him, and found no use for him, since he was neither talented in magic or anything else it appeared. His mother had prayed for days and perhaps even weeks to the Spider Queen, for her to enhance her clerical powers, but to no avail, the cruel capricious god did not heed her prayers. So she came up with the idea to sacrifice Zav'raan to achieve greater power, knowing that Lolth would surely appreciate a sacrifice such as this.

Over the next four months Zav'raans mother prepared for the gruesome ritual, and when the day came she had her son drugged by the house guards and dragged into the sacrificial chambers. As the ritual proceeded everything seemed to go according to plan, except that the Spider Queen had yet to reveal herself in any form. (Usually in the form of some magical effect, or spiders suddenly appearing, or in rare cases a Yochlol will appear)

At the end of the ritual the priestess lifted the sacrificial dagger high and thrust it towards the heart of her son, but the dagger instead struck an invisible shield that appeared to take -no- damage. Outraged, she kept attempting to stab at the teenager laying on the alter, but to no avail, the dagger simply would not penetrate the shield.

Seeing this as a sign from the Spider Queen herself that the boy was blessed, she decided to instead keep him and make sure he received training in various forms of combat and wizardry, to discover his talent, after all the child was blessed, was he not?

Over the next twenty or so years, Zav'raan showed an innate talent to merge with shadows, hide himself from sight. When learning of this, his mother had him trained as an assassin, and had hoped he would become a useful addition to the house.

As he reached adulthood, Zav'raan left abruptly with a group of Drow mercenaries, for a mission on the surface, to much dismay from his mother and family since he was just proving to be useful for once in his life.

When Zav'raan returned his abilities had increased exponentially, and on his armor and weapon he had sown in a strange symbol that no one could understand its meaning. It was a a pair of black antlers on a red field.

For several decades Zav'raan was committed to increase his houses standing, and he seemed almost fanatical in his worship of the Spider queen, and following the orders of any female with her favor, which was strange since he had not shown it earlier. When he once again left Ched Nasad without giving notice, he left behind him a fearsome reputation of an assassin without conscience and compassion, simply ruthless.

Goals:

- Discover who and what protected him being sacrificed (Honestly i have not decided on this, i will leave it for a DM that feels inspired to do an event with my character)

- Remove the curse that makes him a slave to the Priestesses of Lolth

- Increase his personal power

- Join a organization that will fund and give him assassination jobs

- He plans on returning to Ched Nasad in the future to help his house once again, as he feels some allegiance to them. Especially now with his curse.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:

- Zav'raan learned of Beshaba while on the surface, and found her ways to connect with his own life and views perfectly. Though he is not an overly religious person, it is much more than simple lip service.

- At some point while he was returning from an assassination mission, he found himself suddenly enveloped in black smoke, and within seconds he heard a loud screech that felt like it pierced his skull. After that incident he is forced to obey all orders off any Priestess with the Spider Queens favor. (Though survival comes first, he will not kill himself or jump of a cliff if commanded to, but other than that he will do almost anything) -A Curse-

- After he left Ched Nasad the last time, he went immediately for Sshamath.
