Baldur's Gate : The Sword Coast Chronicles : NWN2 Persistent World

This has been a hard but rewarding journey, to travel south from Neverwinter to Baldur's Gate. I met many travelers, saw many forests and areas on my search for my new home and yet Baldur's Gate and it's surroundings fascinates me the most. I decided to stay here for awhile. Who knows? Maybe I found what I've been searching for. Only time will tell...

Baldur's Gate is fascinating. So many people... So many buildings... A city which lives! Nothing like Silvermoon or even Neverwinter. It is easy to get lost. First thing I did was to buy myself some new equipment. 5 years of travelling took its toll on my bow so I bought a new bow and also some arrows. I saw a discount store which sells cloaks and hoods for 1 GP each. It is a good trade and mine had already some holes and dirt on them anyway.

I saw a maiden in distress in the city. She told me thieves stole her family ring which meant a lot to her. This is one of my weaknesses. She looked so sad, I felt like it was my duty to help her so I told her I would. I went to the sewers and asked the beggars living there where those thieves would be. After giving 5 GP they told me where they usually are so I went after them, hiding in shadows and tracking whoever is nearby. I spotted one of them. He didn't look really tough but he looked like he had seen some fights. I laid a minor acid trap, walked behind it and shot an arrow to him. He heard the arrow flying and evaded the arrow. By Selune's Light! He was fast. He had better reflexes than I do. He started charging at me. He activated the trap I laid, taking some damage. He didn't stop charging at me and before I could fire a second arrow, he thrusted his dagger to me. I felt a warm feeling on my chest, darkness took my eyes. After a couple of seconds I wasn't able to hear anymore. I collapsed and that was the last thing I remember before waking up in front of Baldur's Gate entrance. He was too tough for me. I had to get more skilled with my bow before I could help the poor maiden...

I've heard rumors that Undead took control of the graveyard. So I decided to help the local by freeing the graveyard from the Undead. I traveled to Graveyard. I couldn't believe my eyes. Zombies and skeletons were swarming the place. I hid in shadows and started to hunt them down. I also saw another adventurer, Liliya Blake, fighting the undead. We joined our forces to fight them. She was really kind. She healed my wounds when I got wounded. Killing zombies and skeletons was easy as long as they weren't coming as a pack and I was getting used to my new bow, my targeting got better. Suddenly 2 skeletons and a zombie jumped onto me. I was fighting two of them as I felt a sword penetrating my torso from behind. I saw the sword coming out of my chest before I went unconscious.

I woke up at the Baldur's Gate entrance again and Liliya was gone. I decided to make a camp and rest after having two defeats. If adventurers pass nearby, I will warn them about the dangers around so that they won't be as unfortunate as me.

Moon is shining and I can hear the Owl's. My eyes get heavier. Time to rest...

A new day begins. After packing my tent and putting of the camp fire around Eastern Farmlands, I decided to talk to locals about the rumors. Some of them already knew my name through my good deeds, which was satisfying to know. They told me some rumors about a necromancer building an army of undead for the purposes unknown. I couldn't believe the rumors because I took care of the undead problem recently. Just to be sure, I went to the graveyard and as I was there, I've realized the farmers were unfortunately right! There was a horde of zombies and skeletons, much more organized than last time. I could feel something was driving them. Perhaps the locals were right. I needed to investigate this matter...

I fought a couple of them fiercely to make my way to the depths of the graveyard. It was hardly a challange as long as I could get them one on one. I saw increased activities and heard roarings coming from roughly 100 meters away from me. I hid in shadows to just scout the area. I saw a Half-Orc brutally swinging his warmace, a halfling cheering up his companions with his inspiring music and shooting bolts, another halfling casting magic unknown to me and a human fighting his foes with two maces. Eventhough undead was surrounding them, coming one after another, they weren't having any problems with the encounter. I saw a zombie slowly walking towards the bard behind. Other companions were distracted by the horde so I took my mace out and charged towards the zombie, crushed its head with one swing. Halfling heard the crushing and turned around. He was a little shocked to see me and a zombie corpse, lying 3 meters away from him. He noded with an appriciating expression on his face, turned back and continued shooting bolts at the undead. They were growing thin and after slaying the last skeleton we found some time to converse. They too were looking for a necromancer they heard from the locals.

After clearing out the entire graveyard we were losing our hopes to find that evil necromancer. The halfling magician spotted a cave entrance in the graveyard. I was disappointed at myself for not spotting the cave entrance myself. Afterall I was the Ranger, not him...

We went into the cave. It was beautiful yet cold and dark. Undead had infested the cave yet life found its way to exist in such a foul place. It was green. There were trees and a fond. I knew that we had to cleanse this place from the undead. We slain everything on our way while we were travelling into the darker corners of the cave. Suddenly, I saw some lights in the darkness, followed by some words. I realized it was magic and it formed two missile shapes and travelled with a speed even faster than deers to the half-orc. They hit the half-orc, wounding him. Half-Orc didn't seem injured much but those missiles definitely made him angry. He charged into the darkness and we followed him. We also saw other movements behind that magic user. The locals were both right and wrong. It was a necromancer but he wasn't alone. He had two other followers with him. It was the hardest fight I have ever experienced. Magic can be quite dangerous. One of the followers casted something on me which confused me, I was also blinded and deafened. The effects were terrfying, not being able to see or hear anything surrounding me. Fortunately it didn't last long and as soon as I came to my senses, I started shooting arrows on them. The battle was with mixed emotions. There was hatred for mutilating the nature, they also scared me. It was either us or them. Half-orc collapsed on the ground so I drew my mace and charged to two remaining necromancers. I crushed the first one's chest while he was casting a spell. He fell on the floor. I took my mace above my head and swinged it with all my power towards his face, crushing it. The other fellows took care of the last necromancer. As soon as the battle was over I took care of half-orc's wounds with using the herbs and bandages I had with me.

We cleaned the rest of the caves and went out. We were exhausted and needed some rest. I put on a campfire at the Eastern Farmlands and I went hunting to bring some food, coming back with 5 rabbits. I knew they would ruin those rabbits so I cooked them. We had a nice conversation while eating my fantastically cooked rabbits. I could see the happiness on their faces. That time I got the chance to know them.

Barag Gnoll was a half-orc barbarian which didn't seem like the brightest. He loved shineys (He meant gold pieces) and also loved to fight. Although we didn't have a lot of conversation, I could see the goodness in him.

Petros the Bard, was a cheerful fella. He loved telling stories and entertaining people around him. I still think he was exeggerating his stories though.

Milo Tibbs was the other halfling. I've learned that he was a wizard. He wasn't as talkative as Petros but I enjoyed the little conversation we had.

The human with two maces was a rogue named Hinzel Mann. He loved the darkness like it was his home. He was quite entertaining though. He was arguing with Barag because he was smashing everything including the locked doors and chest. Hinzel was trying to reason with him, telling him that he is capable of opening chest without destroying whats inside.

It was getting late and we were very tired. Afterall we cleansed an entire graveyard and eliminated the Necromancer threat. I fell asleep while Patros was telling another story about the sailors and a curse.
