"There is the weave, and there is Raw magic. The energy that is raw magic is more or less the energy that make up the universe, the stuff of creation. The Weave is the fabric that allows up to touch this raw magic and we shape the weave to cast spells.
All spells, Divine and arcane, magic items, spell-like ability's, and even supernatural ability's like a ghosts power to walk through walls, Depend on the weave and call on it trough different ways. When ever the weave is called upon we shape its threads, intertwine them, wrap twist and fold them. When we use a Dispell we smooth the threads returning them to the way they where before, as such a Dispell will even fix broken spots on the weave for short periods of time. Because a wizard can effect the spells of a cleric and a cleric can effect the spells of a wizard is only further proof we all use the weave.
The Weave acts as both a barrier and a gate between raw magic and the world. With the Weave in place, mortals can access magic and are protected from the harmful effects of contacting raw magic while still able to tap its refined energy. Spellcasters shape the weave, knowingly or not, every time they cast a spell."
