Any good Fishing Tips/Advice?

Thinking about trying out fishing on my Druid, anyone have some advice on it? Xp limit, how much does survival help etc. I tried to do a search but didnt really come up with anything.

I have nine survival with owl's wisdom on and I was catching groupers every 3-5 mins

As far as i know:
Every 3 ranks in survival +1% chance.
Rain gives +10%
dusk/dawn gives a +5%
A "good" spot gives +5% (though this is sort of random for salt water. Reeds/rocks etc are good for freshwater. There are less "good" spot's than "average." I left out poor spots all together which would have given -10%)

Cast Owl's insight and Commune with Nature, both should bump your survival up nicely.
My Druid was a hell of a fisherman before people started abusing the system, and they had to Nerf the XP and cap the XP to about 1240 per reset. The same as RP XP.

I have no idea how this triggered but it was most likely prior to whatever changes they made. It's a 3,000 exp Marlin (lower on my screen because Selande has 20% exp penalty for multiclassing). I caught several of these, though all within 2-3 days. Caught a couple super rock crabs too.
And disregard the tell chat. I promise I didn't kill anyone.

fish with a partner, and get some RP xp while you get your fishing xp.

Yeah well i had 13 survival on my paladin and i got bubkiss for 30 mins then an octopus for 300 xp.

There are only a few areas I have found where you are close enough to RP while you are fishing.

It would be awesome if there was info about fishing in a new players guide. I don't even know where to buy stuff for fishing or what I need for it.

Exactly!
Did you talk to either NPC's Norm or Cliff? They might mention it. Or not? They share a big dialog.
NPC Bob explains fishing. He is near the prime fishing area.
