Elvithrar Tir'ein's Journal.

Unread post by NightShadeVI »

Kythorn 3, 1352.

I have finally decided to leave Evermeet. My families rigid demand of me has begun to unsettle me. I am the most promising wizard in two generations, or so they keep reminding me. I understand their pride but my talents for magic has blinded them to everything else. I have begun to suspect they simply wish to display me at court as some whimsical political tool to joust with. My Father especially, as an Arch-wizard he has been increasingly harder to talk to without another tedious task to trudge through. I suspect my life will turn into an endless barrage of tedium and uneventful scroll scribing until I become as despondent as an old man. I refuse to let that happen!

There's so much out there I want to see and experience myself, not just from books and old legends. I crave adventure, my spirit wants to fly free from the safety of Evermeet.

For awhile I've been spending more time in Leuthilspar, keeping an eye out for trading vessels. I happened on one, called the Spirit wind, they are bound for Baldur's Gate tomorrow.

Kythorn 17, 1352.

At last! I've arrived in Baldur's Gate! To see a human city for the first time is exciting, and also a little intimidating. So many people of different heritage and backgrounds, I've rarely been around anyone who wasn't an elf. Even the buildings are strange, a stark contrast from the natural buildings my own people dwell in. This is exactly where I want to be to grow my magical talents however, so many opportunities to grasp!

So far, everything has been quite exciting! I've already fought bandits and kobolds with the help of some truly unique individuals. One man stood out, a gold dwarf named Ronar Brighthammer, I immediately thought he'd be an uncivilized brute but I was truly surprised how well mannered and spoken he was. This is half the reason I left, to see the truth's for my own eyes. I feel we'll become good friends in the days to come, and why not? I may be a Sun elf, but I don't hold onto haughty arrogance as strongly as others of my kind.

I'll be busy battling the local creatures to help keep the city safe for now... I'll write again soon.
