Can someone please tell me the correct format for this spell? I'm just not getting it, as it kindly reminds me every time I fail.

It stats <Name> + [Space] + "Message" + [space] + .

But <name> "test" . Does not work.

1.) Cast the spell

2.) Name Message: Blabla .

So, you type...
-Character Name
-Message: TEXT
-. (dot)

Example:

Xzar Message: Hey Xzar how are you .

or

John Message: Can you come to Beregost John .

Want to send a Sending to your friend Pete and tell him you're fine? Type:

Pete Message: I'm fine .

um... so I think the spell instructions are going to need to be more clear, as i thought "message" meant that was where you type your message. :/

It is exactly that quotation of Message which makes the sending spell formula so complex. Instead of treating it as where you put your message, you have to quote Message: and then type your own message.

I get that now, but it took clarification on a forum.

The spell needs a re-write in the explanation. Probably with an example like on here.

ALSO!

By all means.. do not walk away after casting it.

I think it works by casting an AOE spell centered on you, that has the script of the spell.

What does that mean?

Walk away and the spell's botched. You need to go back where you casted it for the message to be sent.

(at least in my experience)

Its meant to encourage mages to ask around how it works or find it through experimentation, in the hope doing so creates roleplay. Some characters experiment with the spell for example, before finding out. Some ask other, more experiences mages, for advise. :)

In your case, you asked a DM ;)

I can see your point of view but when it comes down to something you need to type in a specific order, it gets IMO a bit difficult to roleplay.

"Waggle your fingers like this and don't forget to pronounce the colon and the dot" ;)

I'd like to see a proper spell description made for this spell. I keep a note next to me so I won't botch the spell when I'd really need it.

Got to agree with others Rasael. Experimentation is one thing, pure ooc 'how to type a message' is another.
