Gabriel Stryder
First Name: Gabriel
Last Name: Stryder

Race: Human
Age: 25
Height: 6ft 2in.
Weight: 190lbs

Facial Hair Style: Clean Shaven
Tatooes - On his back a inked in black and white ink (the outline is in white ink the feathers themselves are in black ink) is a pair of celestial wings, they start at the base of his neck and cover down to the small of his back. The tatoo is slightly warped by two scars which run vertically down his shoulder blades.
On his chest, specifically his sternum is a small black tatoo of a cross.
On his the inside of his left wrist is a small simple tatoo of a butterfly, above is a small simple tatoo of a white rabbit.
Scars: The scars on his back, then on his torso are circular scars which look like they are from being stabbed or shot with a cross bow, a smiliar scar appears on his left shoulder as well as a long scar running diagonally from his right shoulder to the lower left side of his abdomen.
Personality Profile: In the past before leaving Winterdeep for Baldur's Gate Gabriel was seen as dark and brooding, pessimistic. However in Baldur's gate he has been quite the opposite, cheery, playful, happy. He behaves almost as if he is a different person....
General Health: Very Healthy, very fit, very active
Deity: Torm
Initial Alignment: Lawful Good
Profession: Paladin of Torm
Base Class & Proposed Development: Paladin of Torm, his information gathering activities have caused me to give him a couple levels in rogue, then I will take Anointed Knight, possibly delving into ghost face killer (but RPing the class as something different >=) I has plans I do..)
Habits/Hobbies: Training, remaining in shape, prayer, research on various topics, recently has begun smoking.
Languages: Common, Elven, Cant
Weapon of Choice: A great sword, katana, scimitar, he also carries a hammer for dealing with the undead. Gabriel has various expertise with all classes of weapon and has yet to find any weapon that he feels suits him.
Background:
Father: Uriel Stryder
Mother: Judith Stryder (Maiden name: Mourningstar)
Brothers: Jack Kaliban, (rumored to be more siblings)
Sisters: Unknown
Gabriel was trained to follow in his father's footsteps as a Paladin of Torm. Gabriel's father Uriel had been a paladin from a very young age and he was determined to have his son follow in his footsteps and eventually become a Champion of the church. Gabriel was never as devout as his father would have liked but has served the Church of Torm dutifully and always shown the proper reverance for Torm, and respect for his allied churches.
Gabriel grew up in a good home, but since he was young he was described as a "dark child". He was known for never getting excited beyond a smile which was rare. When training to become a paladin he would often be taunted for his serious disposition, which could cause him to burst into rage; A trait which the trainers and priests were quick to beat out of him. Gabriel learned discipline the hard way; but still when he sees someone slighted, harrassed, bullied, or treated unjustly he gets a glint of anger in his eyes and his hand will instinctively drop to his weapons' hilts or ball up into fists.
He has come to Baldur's Gate to help eradicate the undead which he had heard were plaguing the cemetery.
Goals: To eradicate the undead plague. And find his way in the world. (More to be added as the Character himself develops)
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Gabriel's father died in the service of Torm and while Gabriel has continued to pay the proper reverence to Torm his sees and refers to Torm as "The god of my Father", possibly harboring some disdain over the loss of his admired parent.
Gabriel as developed a reputation for various trysts with the female members of Torm's church during the annual True Resurrection Celebration. Earning him a reputation as a womaniser. His behavior in general has shown him to atleast be a flirt.
Uriel, Gabriel's father had a reputation as an outstanding paladin but also was rumored to have a reputation for 'knowning' many women intimately.
In his home city of Waterdeep Gabriel was member of a cadre of Paladins, Clerics, and Crusaders who hunted down and wiped out Banite cults hiding throughout the city.
Gabriel had joined the Black Carnation Initiative believing they could be a force for good on The Sword Coast. Gabriel realized that the Initiative had a 'human-centric' approach and truly believed that by helping human settlements they could keep the coast safe for all. Gabriel was expelled from the Initiative when the Commissar and leader Evanie Blakes believed him to be comprimised. An investigation is pending but Gabriel has no intention of returning.
Gabriel has begun frequenting taverns, inns, the docks, and other areas looking to establish contacts of both well standing and ill repute. He has let any who inquire to his presence that there is money to be had in brokering information with him...

LORD! punish me no more with your anger; in your wrath do not chastise me!
Your arrows have sunk deep in me;
your hand has come down upon me.
My flesh is afflicted because of your anger;
my frame aches because of my sin,
a burden beyond my strength.

Re: Gabriel Stryder
Gabriel sits at in the ruins outside Baldur's Gate bordering the ocean, he is seated on the edge of a cliff, a fire beside him, one of his hand rolled cigarettes hanging from the corner of his mouth. He plays with a flute, aimlessly twirling it inbetween his fingers. A large bottle of mead sits beside him, uncorked. He is watching the sun rise on a new day.
"What a strange place this is...what a frightening world we live in." He says to himself. His mind drifts back to Valiant's brash and rude threats when Gabriel was talking with Kesa, "Bah, darkness take him..." he mutters trying to push the matter from his mind, but it sat there...it had taken root like some sickly twisted weed. "The very fact that someone would hear but a snipet of a conversation and offer so brazen a threat over nothing..." he mutters to himself. "Is this land truly so lawless, are these people truly so stupid...so prideful..." Gabriel takes another drag of his cigarette. "A friend says Evanie.." he continues to mutter, then pauses. "Perhaps he is bedding Kesa..." nods, "I suppose that would make sense...he must be the jealous type..." Gabriel shrugs and slides away from the cliff, standing up. He flicks his cigarette over the cliff and into the coast. He then kneels before the rising sun and places his warmace and greatsword in front of him, closes his eyes and meditates on all his new adventures, friends, and aquantances in Baldur's Gate, and begins to offer prayers for Torm's protection...

Re: Gabriel Stryder
Gabriel sits under a tree outside the Friendly Arms Inn, he is sketching a picture on a piece of parchment and thinking about those he has met so far. He reflects on his second meeting with the knight Valiant, "Perhaps I was too quick to judge..." the man who had seemed to quick to judge appeared to be very even keel when they spoke by the fire.
Gabriel's thoughts turned to that of Lady Alison and cannot help but smile to himself. This young woman liked to seem to be a fool to the causal observer but behind her warm smile and shining eyes there is a wise soul and, Gabriel suspected; a very cool and sharp intellect.
Finally the Paladin of the Triad Sir Lazarus Khross. Initially Gabriel was unsure what to think but he now saw Lazarus as a man of like mind. "Hmm" he said to himself, "I feel Lazarus has much to teach..." He makes a mental note to seek out his fellow Paladin again soon.
Gabriel holds up his sketch and looks at it. *it is in black and white*

"Hmm..." He lights a cigarette and opens a bottle of mead, closing his eyes and enjoying the sunlight streaming through the tree's leaves.

Re: Gabriel Stryder
Gabriel stands in the streets of Baldur's Gate, people stream past him and he hears a familiar voice, right next to his ear, a soft whisper, "Gabriel." He turns looking behind him, no one is there. The crowd seems to be unaware of him, people moving and bustling simply walking around this young man standing in their midst. Again he hears it, "Gabriel."
"Hello?" he responds to the bodyless voice.
Suddenly the crowd stops, no one is moving, everyone is standing erect, and with one loud 'CLACK' of their souls hitting the pavement they all turn faceing him. In unison they say, "Gabriel." Shocked Gabriel stumbles back only bumping into more of the crowd which has now encricled him. With another loud 'CLACK, CLACK' they all take a step back leaving Gabriel in a large circular space. Once again in unison they say, "Gabriel have you forgotten?"
Gabriel shakes his head, "Forgotten what? What are you talking about? Who are you?! Why are you doing this?!"
His ears begin to ring, a sensation he has become all too familiar with, he cries out "AH what do you want?!" He covers his ears and closes his eyes.
A gentle female voice responds, "You know what I want Gabriel." Gabriel looks up a slender elven woman with long flowing blonde hair walks towards him, her skin is immaculate, her figure is exquisite, her eyes like glowing emeralds. "You know exactly what I want 'Liyalai'..." she practically spits the word at him, dripping with malice and disgust. She is drawing to elven daggers as she steps closer, they are just as beautiful as their wielder, Gabriel is intimately familiar with both, she stops a foot from Gabriel and a wicked smile twists her features into something horrific and grotesque. The woman's mouth opens and a screeching tortured banshee of a voice screams, "REVENGE!" She darts forward the daggers sinking into Gabriel's torso just below his chest, he cries out him pain as her face comes within an inch of his own.
Gabriel bolts up, awakened from the horror within his own dreams. His hand is clenched so tight that there is blood coming from his palm where his nails cut in. His hand reaches out next to him to find only to find some residual warmth from the bed's other occupant. He looks around and spots her mask on the night stand. He sighs and rubs his forehead "She must not have gone far then..." When Gabriel looks out the window the moon tells him that it's early in the morning perhaps 3 or 4. He reaches into his bag and grabs a bandage to wrap his hand. He then grabs a bottle from his bag, pulling the cork out with his teeth and taking a swig. He sighs again, lights a cigarette, and waits for his lover to return...

**edited** I messed up I wanted to put Winterkeep as his home town but put Winterdeep, but it doesn't matter because apparently Winterkeep is currently a ruin so it has been changed to Waterdeep. More to be added at a later date.
