Background:
At a young age Serah and her twin brother used to run errands for the local gangs, running messages and delivering items to avoid the eyes of the law. At the age of 13 Serah and her brother Joseph were recruited by one of the gangs and began learning the tricks of the trade. Together her and Joseph were unstopable, Joseph had learnt to use a blade with deadly accuracy while Serah would cover his back from a distance with a crossbow although they would never kill their marks as they believed bloodshed was not the way. Some of the others in the gang however thought the twins to be too soft and decided to teach them a lesson.

While on a job to rob a temple of Tyr the others in the gang turned on the twins, capturing Joseph and the head priest and holding them hostage in the middle of the temple. They told Serah that if she wanted to save her brothers life she would have to prove herself by killing the head priest. Joseph called out to his sister to hold her fire as she pointed her weapon in the direction of the priest, it was not their way... Hands shaking she turned to the priest, his eyes burning in to her very soul as he prayed to his god, terror clearly showing on his face. "Too Slow" said the thugs as they slit both prisoners throats, Serah let out a cry as her brothers body fell to the floor limp and lifeless, a smile clearly on his face.

It was over in moments the bodies of the thugs lay all around the temple their bodies filled with bolts, Serah kneeled before her brothers lifeless body and that of the priest, tears flowing as she took up the priests holy symbol and held it to her heart, it was in this moment she decided that the will of the god of justice would lead her.

From that day forward she vowed to cleanse the world of injustice.
