Rumors of the North

In the far reaches of the north, within the Misty Forest there is heard a revelry and chorus being sung in elven following the latest push of Orcs back into the High Moor. The song rings true amongst the wildlife and fey..........

the elves carry their fiesta on through the wee hours of the night :D

Wood Elves are reclusive and solitary although not as withdrawn from society as the nearly feral wild elves, so it is rare, but not unheard of, to see wood elves venture from their homes in the High Forest. Wood elves are uncommonly strong for elves, but also smaller and less intuitive than most elves. Also called copper elves, they have coppery skin tinged with green, and brown, green, or hazel eyes. Their hair is usually brown or black, with blond and coppery-red occasionally found.

Something is happening in the northern lands of the Sword Coast. Druids and rangers claiming those lands as their home have noticed a stark increment in the activities of the Fair Folk. Sprites, pixies, and other assorted, less identifiable kinds of feys have been seen gathering inside the Misty Forest and the High Moors.

From there, they seem to be moving further north; although they travel in unorganized, uncoordinated bands that generally pose no threat to wayward travelers (save for a prank or two), all of them seem to be vanishing once inside the forest of Ardeep without leaving a single trace. Druids knowledgeable enough in the subject warn curious travelers that meddling with creatures of the feywild is dangerous regardless of their allegiance, and should be avoided if at all possible.

Travelers, rangers and druids that occasionally enter the northern forest of Ardeep report witnessing stranger and stranger phenomena. Some speak of eerie lights and sounds coming from the core of the forest, others claim to have been subject to all manners of pranks by swarms of pixies, strangely more frenetic than their usual.

A particularly deranged hunter (now interned into a mental asylum) has even claimed to have been tormented by a talking cat wielding strong magics after having killed felines for their pelts.

Another rather creepy tale speaks of a pack of feys with the ability to enthrall all those who witness to their dances, forcing them to dance along to exhaustion until the otherwordly gathering leaves the area.

Those very few brave (or foolhardy, depending on the point of view) souls that actually dare to venture into the deepest recesses of Ardeep to investigate usually come back with no memory of whatever sight have they witnessed to, but this happens only if they are lucky, for many interlopers have not returned at all.

Curiously, the feys seem to be leaving those travelers that enter the forest of Ardeep for limited amounts of time and without hurting the flora and fauna alone. The usual inhabitants of the forest, be they animal or sentient, are left undisturbed as well, as if they represent no trouble or threat to the Fair Folk.

(-6 days to the fairy festival in Ardeep! Good aligned rangers and druids, or neutral aligned rangers or druids following the deities of nature like Silvanus, Mielikki, Lurue and similar are of course allowed to try to get an invitation, provided they discover how to get one In Game.)

The situation in Ardeep seems to have normalized a bit, even if that ancient forest has never been "normal" regardless of its situation. Pixies are pulling far less pranks on travelers, and the gathering of dancing feys seems to have vanished for good. Yet, despite this apparent calm, no one dares to try accessing the deepest core of the forest any more.

Druids and rangers "attuned" to the environment, on the other hand, are far less convinced that the situation is slowly returning to normality, and speak of a lingering feel of uneasiness and trepidation permeating the forest as well as its animal inhabitants. Something big is bound to happen...
