Kestiel was born into a family of modestly successful merchants in the city of Crimmor. When Kestiel came of age he decided to try his own hand at mercantilism and left for the city of untold riches, Athkatla. He found out quickly that he was well over his head, gaining wealth and status is never easy and in Athkatla, it is that much more difficult. He eventually found work as a scribe working in the mayors office. Copying and drawing up legal documents. With the money he earned, he invested it into his own small trading company. He had but limited success, never reaching silver status. As the years went on, he began to change. Living life for the sole purpose of accumilating wealth held less and less of an appeal. His job became tiresome and he filled the void by spending much of the day reading about a wide variety of topics and at the tavern striking up the local bards for conversation of adventure and bits of knowledge of the outside world. It was not too long before the inevitable happened, he was fired from his job as scribe. Though his fate may have been deserved, nonetheless, he felt betrayed by the turn of events and did something he quickly regretted. He used his key to enter the mansion yet again and broke into the coffers. Taking with him as much as he could carry. On his way out, he was spotted. Kestiel quickly jumped on his horse and rode southward to they city of Murann as quickly as he could. The guards in the city of Murann were warned ahead of time to apprehend the criminal known as Kestiel. After narrowly avoiding capture a second and then a third time he fled into the woods of Velen where he attempted to live off the land for a number of weeks. Having no survival skills to speak of, it was only a matter of a couple tenday before he was cold, starving and near death. At that point the soldiers had finally caught up with him. Delusional from hunger and unable to flee, he awaited his fate. Unknown to Kestiel, the forest has eyes. It had been watching him for some time. A local creature took pity on him and a winged horse appeared. Instinctively Kestiel rose and slung himself upon it. When Kestiel awoke he found himself on the shores of lake Esmel. The winged horse spoke to him, thinking he was still dreaming or perhaps ate a bad mushroom, he talked at length with the winged creature in it's native language. Eternally grateful with this creature he made it a promise. That he would in return protect fey kind. Thus a pact was made. The very next day he awoke and washed his face in the lake. His reflection startled him, it was not the same. And he felt different. Over the course of months, powers began to manifest themselves. He traveled northwards to visit his family, before moving northward after a few weeks. He felt it was unwise to settle in his birth city.
Goals:
-Learn all there is to know about Feykind.
-Honor his pact N/A
-Seek out adventure when he is able.
-Gain knowledge in general, primary interest in archeology / anthrophology
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
-Because of the lack of nourishment, dehydration, and being so near death his memory is still fuzzy of the meeting with Yathaghera. In fact, he is not certain what happened at all nor what he promised the Fey beyond vague promises to protect feykind. Note: I am open to changing it to a relative or kin of Yathaghera or something else like an outsider, but no devils nor demons as it doesn't fit his race and I'd have to completely rewrite the above. I am not an expert on lore nor errata to campaign setting. Every world and DM has their own opinions and revisions
-The archfey changed his physical appearance from a short blonde, average looking man to the one he is today. The drastic change in physical appearance and charisma has made him aware of his own powers of persuasion. He looks similar to what he used to now, I updated physical appearance above
-Curiosity killed the cat. Overly curious and eager to learn.
