Can someone who plays whirling dervish or shadowdancer please explain to me in-game mechanics of those two abilities?

Are the abilities instant?

No, not instant for shadowdancer, at least. Has a casting time (and the character does a casting animation which makes no sense - the shadow stuff around the character does, just not the gestures), which is a bit odd for a spell like ability. You get two feats: Mark Shadow Jump and Shadow Jump.

Mark Shadow Jump, you cast where you want to be able to jump to. This has a 6 second cooldown. This works differently than Mark Rune, which you use for teleportation/dimension door. With Mark Shadow Jump, you don't need a rune - you can only have one place marked at any time. Each time you jump you have to reset the marked place.

Shadow Jump is the jump. 5 minute cooldown, and you can only jump if you marked in the same zone.

On the casting animation, it happens with all spell-like/supernatural abilities almost. Doubt it can be fixed.
