Actual value of item vs. inflation of prices.

It was not an issue, but after one player IC said that his 1000 worth diamond is worth 5000 for RP purposes because he bought it for that price, I am bound to post it.

For those who are not aware of this:
The worth of gems you buy at KEMO auction is fixed. You can buy a ruby or obsidian for twenty millions, but it will be worth for RP and spell mechanics as by the standard game mechanics.

It does not work as in Order of the Stick.

It is called swindling and only the richest or desperate will buy the gems at these ridiculous prices. Newbies, be aware of this. I would be okay with this if you got any mechanical benefits from goods, but you should know when you are overpaying for the RP instruments.

Still, if he bought it, he has it, and he can sell it the price he wants.

On the other side, you can decide to keep your money and avoid buying it from said player.

It's economy.

My father always taught me, "Something is only worth what some damn fool will pay for it." I think that is true in RL as well as IG.

Some people would be amazed what some players will pay for gems.

+1.
Some gems are rare as +4 items.
It means something for sure. And for sure some rare gems got good rp impact.
