How much UMD is needed for...

… casting a lvl 5 scroll without any chance to fail?
And to emulate alignment?
And to emulate race?

Nwn2 wiki is not clear about this, I want some confirmations on how it works on the server.

Scrolls without fail: DC is 25+spell level. So 29 rank for a level 5 scroll (you can't roll lower than 1, after all).

Emulate race, class and alignment, I don't know, but basically 13 seems to be enough for wands and item restrictions in general.

A total score of 29 UMD is enough to cast a spell without any chance to fail.

There are two checks, one to be able to use the scroll and one to be able to cast the spell successfully.

To be able to use a scroll you must have a total UMD score of :

Lvl 1(DC13), Lvl 2(DC15), Lvl 3(DC17), Lvl 4(DC19), Lvl 5(DC21), Lvl 6(DC23), Lvl 7(DC25), Lvl 8(DC27), Lvl 9(DC29)

So at least 21 UMD for your level 5 spell, no dice roll here.

And to cast something successfully you must pass the second check :

25 + spell level vs UMD score + d20

So in your case, with a 5th level spell and assuming you roll a 1 it becomes 25+5 versus UMD score +1. So to have 100% success you must have at least 29 UMD.

As for the 2 other questions I never checked precisely so I don't know more than the wikia.

Emulate race: umd 10
emulate class: umd 13

Basically UMD 13 allows you to emulate all classes, allignment, use wands and read lvl1 scrolls.

To read a scroll you need umd 13 for lvl1 scroll and +2 for every level after, so to read a lvl5 scroll you need umd 21.

Once you read the scroll you need to pass a DC in order to cast it. the DC is as deathgrowl said: 25 +spell's level

Ok. Any news on Word of Recall, or generally teleport for clerics and favored souls?

for use wands enough UMD 10, to apply scrolls complexity class. For example scrolls 3 level complexity class is 28. So no chance of failure (except one) UMD should be 27. Charisma modifier added to UMD. If charisma is 22 to 95% chance of using the scroll you need to invest in UMD 21 points (modifier 6+21=27)

Me FSoul have 29 UMD for teleport-work 95 % (29+1d20)

So, there is no chance of being able to cast teleport without failure if you have no dip in any class that grants UMD?

Or dip in a class that has teleport! If you dip in wizard or sorcerer, you can use all wiz/sor scrolls and wands without any UMD check at all!

Or a cleric with the travel domain.

Probably takes more than a dip through, since they get it at spell level 7. :)

Not sure, if travel clerics may use teleport scrolls though...

read on one of the forum UMD check to fail. UMD vs 25 + spell level
