((I wanted to put something more funny in the title like Bolts of Steel, or Hail the the king, baby... but thought against it heh))

First Name: Duke
Last Name: None Known

Overall appearance: Well kept for an orc. Standing almost seven feet tall, one could be intimidated by his size alone. Those who feel uneasy about orcs, may find they are not as nervous around Duke. The use of make-up has his skin less gray/green and more of a pink/tan, which may account for this comfortability general folk have around him. But he is still an orc.

Personality Profile: Due to Duke being a slave/servant his entire life, he is quick to snap on such topics, and may have his orc rage creep through his pleasant demeanor. He has been discriminated against his whole life as well, so most slurs tend to roll off of his back, and his "disguise" helps for some folk to accept him, at least as a customer or client.

General Health: Duke runs, a lot. His cardio is at the peak of his lifetime. Getting sick or feeling weak, is a rarity. He eats balanced meals, unlike his orc kin, consisting of not only rare cooked meat, but fruits and vegtables as well.

Diety: Mystra

Initial Alignment: Chaotic Good.

Profession: Former slave/servant and more recently apprentice.

Base Class and Proposed Development: Wizard, then on to Archmage.

Habits/Hobbies: Exploration. Duke likes to find new places and conduct trade. One habit he has moreso than any other is convincing others that he is not going to eat children in the middle of night and howl at the moon.

Languages: Common and Orc of course. He has also learned dragon.

Weapon of Choice: He needs weapons?

Background: Life is hard for an orc normally. Life is harder when you are found as a babe by a cruel trader. Duke came about his name as a mockery by his master/father Coklo. Orc cannot be royalty, so why not make him such, if only in a name. Of course that playing too much credit to the intelligence of the drunkard who between beatings of Duke and throwing insults came up with the reason to tell others and have a laugh. The real reason was that his dog died and he liked the dog's name.

Over time, Duke was fixing things that needed to be fixed, such as the wagon, lockboxes, just simple things really. An older man happened by one evening, perhaps in his forties who needed some supplies for his journey home. Something about the stranger drew Duke to him. Before they parted ways, Duke asked the man about his journies and his life. The stranger, Medicus, was kind enough to talk to the orc quickly about his last trip.

What was supposed to be a quick answer, started into an actual conversation. Medicus was curious about the orc. Duke seemed to absorb and understand what Medicus was talking about, even when he shifted into some basic arcane theory. In just moments, Medicus was convinced that the orc had potential, perhaps in the arcane, perhaps in something else and talked to his master. Coklo was drunk as usual and frustraited at his lack of performance with the ladies that evening, so when Medicus advanced and offered to pay him for the orc, Coklo agreed. Afterall, he needed more money for more girls, since the other girls were broken, obviously.

Duke wasted no time and began his journey to Medicus' cottage where he was to apprentice under the mage's guidance. Time went on, and Duke caught on to a number of lessons that led him to casting his first cantrips. Medicus knew that an orc that could master the arcane would frighten many people in his village, so he kept it a secret and the orc was his servant to help out around the cottage while he conducted his research. That was just an act, as Medicus treated Duke with kindness and understanding and much patience. Duke learned to focus and drown out his rage impulses that were common about his brethren, thanks to the lessons from his teacher.

Years passes by and Duke still resided in the cabin with his teacher and friend, Medicus when a man stormed in, wielding an axe above his head just started slashing around in a fit of rage. Surprise was what Duke experienced as he recognized the assailant as his former master, Coklo. Later it would realized that with Duke, Coklo's business fell apart as things broke, heavy things could not be moved quite easily and he had no one to kick around to improve his self esteem. Coklo surprised Medicus and before he could react, found a gash from his left shoulder all the way down to his right hip. He fell like a rag doll.

Anger and sorrow and eventually rage built up in Duke, in a matter of instantly. He summoned up a ray of frost that hit Coklo in the arm, which caused his arm to slow down and shake as he screamed in pain. That did not stop him, as he continued his assault towards Duke. Then Duke let loose a magic missile that struck the man dead. Before Coklo hit the ground, Duke was already by his teacher's side, holding his head up to him. Trying to hold back his tears, he listened to his friend's last words telling him to run.

Duke knew at that moment that the scene of this grisley crime reeked of him being guilty. His former master breaking in and being killed by the mage, since Duke was not an apprentice in the public eye, then he is killed brutally by the orc in a vicious attack, because that is what orcs do... turn on everyone and go into a murderous rampage. After burying his friend, Duke gathered up his spellbook, some food, and whatever coin he could find and left, never looking back. Baldur's Gate was probably as far as he could have ran to.

Goals: Starting a new life, possibly in Baldur's Gate. Continuing his education and research in the art, to carry on his teacher's traditions.

Possible Plot Hooks: Duke has no idea what happened in his village after he left. There could be a bounty out on him, or someone who is supposed to bring him back in. Or maybe none of the above. Coklo was connected with the Zhentarim somehow, so maybe retribution if he is discovered.

((I hope everyone who reads this enjoyed it :D I have 2 main characters now... both mages, so let's see how this works out.))
