Background: Born a bastard son to one of the realm's important waterdeep noble families, Elril could not hope to achieve greatness in his life. His mother, second daughter of the current Matriarch, was married to a son of a minor, but rich house. He desired greatly for a son and heir, but she only bore him a daughter.
Two years after that, however, fortune seemed to smile upon sir Reyce, as his beautiful wife was again pregnant. Their child, however, was not exactly what he hoped for. The boy had pointed red hair and emerald eyes not found on either side of the family.
It was quickly found out that lady Erielle had had an affair with an minstrel. Escaping her husband's ire, she sought refuge at the only place she could think of that would offer her help.
She fled the esatate with her infant son and hid in the temple of Lady Firehair, where, at least for some time, she led a simple life, helping the priests and other lay members any way she could. She never forgot the life of luxuries, however. Nor did she forget her daughter, Arianne.
The boy, whom she named Elril in honour of his father, was raised in the temple with the help of Sune’s priestesses. In the end, many people contributed to his upbringing.
Four years passed when finally Erielle decided to renew contacts with her estranged family and brokered a deal – she was to return to her husband while Elril would remain under the Sunites’ care till he is old enough to be sent back and begin his training as a Tormite.
Living with the followers of Sune, however, filled the boy's head with legends, stories of the divine and desire for adventure that could not be easily quenched. Found to be innately gifted with divine magic, Elril was taken in by the high priestess herself who seemed to see greatness behind the emerald eyes.
Soon the moment of his departure from the temple came. He was sent to squire for a knight of torm in a minor noble family and even if he was still treated with disdain by everyone he knew of his less than noble origins, he grew to like the excitement of the battlefield. But, more importantly, he grew fond of the man he was serving and with time, his service went beyond simple loyalty.
A tragedy struck, however, when sir Edwyn was killed in battle and Elril was left to rethink his life. Finding solace in Sune, he returned to the temple where he volunteered to become a warrior. He learnt many a thing under the Sunites’ tutelage, but the most important to him was to understand and accept love and beauty in all their forms. Given time, he achieved great mastery with divine magic.
Years later,
He joined up with a traveling band of sunites traveling from village to village performing marriages and poetry, spreading the ideas of love to the common folk of Faerun. He took a role of a protector for the less powerful of the sunites, to guard their inner and outer beauty.
Until one day when he was off with a woman who was paid to distract him and his entire band of sunites was waylaid by bandits, and the group slaughtered. That day he pledge himself only to sune (vow of chasity). He now travels south to Baldur's Gate to make a name for him and serve the greater good.
