Background:
A few ages ago, Sha'lihn's family was known by a different name.
Her family was among the highest nobility of the city of Leuthilspar, the capital city of Evermeet.
One day, the legends of Evermeet's splendor reached the ears of a young adult Gold dragon residing on Faerun.
Curious to see the fabled land with his own eyes, he came to the isle masquerading as a young Sun Elven man.
As he journeyed across Evermeet, he was especially amazed and intrigued by the Sun Elven cities.
He found the beauty of Leuthilspar and the charms of a noble's life too tempting to resist.
He began courting a young Sun Elven maiden, Sha'lihn's great grandmother.
With his supposed immense magical talent and a passion for the high society life, the Gold dragon quickly managed to cement a position of influence as a mage.
Within time, he had won the hand of his elven maiden and began to settle into a noble's life in Leuthilspar.
However, with the birth of his child, his secret was revealed. The noble houses were outraged and the dragon was exiled from Evermeet.
His spouse, however, was left behind with his child, in shame.
The young Elven mother was, by will of the other noble houses, forced to take on a new name, so there could be no mistake as to the nature of her offspring.
With this turn of events, Sha'lihn's family slowly fell into decline.
Although still possesing great power and wealth, her family would never command the respect it once had.
In an attempt to return the family's bloodline to purity, Sha'lihn's grandfather was wed to a young woman from another noble family, in exchange for an extensive wedding dowry paid from her family's rapidly dwindling coffers.
This would become tradition for any other offspring in the family that followed, pure and noble blood was to be acquired at any cost.
By the time Sha'lihn was born, the influence of the dragon's blood had diminished but the stigma on her family's name still remained although not as fiercely as in her great grandmother's time.
In her younger years, she was never quite so bothered by the mark on her family, in fact she found the idea of meeting a Gold dragon quite fascinating.
She was taught all the values of a normal Sun Elf, as her family still hoped that one day, the family name might be restored and take it's place among Leuthilspar's nobility again.
However, as she grew into maturity, she began to feel the hindrance of her family's reputation more and more.
But with her family's wealth hitting rockbottom, she was rejected by the prestigious magic schools, getting no chance at a higher education, such as a wizard's.
she was forced into a simple life as a soldier, standing watch on the island fortress Sumbrar.
She marveled at the sight of the Pegasus cavalry, one of Evermeet's elite fighting forces, and dreamed of becoming one of them.
Over the years, she trained hard to become an excellent warrior, both on foot and on horseback.
She spent her sparetime researching dragons, and Gold dragons especially.
It dawned on her that her dragon-blood could hold powers unlike her pure-blood comrades could never possess.
For the first time in many years since her childhood, she began to see the dragon's taint in a more positive light
However, when the time came for her to be tested for induction into the cavalry, she was deemed unfit due to her bloodline.
Coinciding with this, her parents had found her a noble suitor whom they wished her to marry as soon as possible.
Feeling wronged and infuriated, she began to long for an escape from the island.
Word came to her of a planned voyage to Faerun, to ferry a small delegation of Evermeet elves to where, so she had been told, her dragon great grandparent had returned to after his exile.
She begged her superiors to be allowed in on this "mission", and they granted her permission, perhaps in slight guilt over declining her application for the cavalry.
She hid from her parents until the time came for the ship to depart for foreign lands.
Once there, she hopes to find her dragon ancestor and a way to unlock the power of her dragon blood.
On the mainland she knows that she will find many things that may displease her, such as filthy humans and reckless adventurers, foul orcs and evil Drow.
But she is convinced that on Faerun, she will be second to none but her dragon relatives.
However, she knows full well that if she is to find what she is looking for, it will be tough to do so alone.
Visiting a human city, for example, is a suffering she will have to endure if she wishes to learn more of her parent's whereabouts, but perhaps she can teach the locals a thing or two about civilization or combat.
Above all else, she wishes to show her Sun Elven kin back home that her bloodline is not a weakness but, in fact, makes her superior.
Goals: To attempt to unlock powers related to her draconic blood. And to prove that it makes her superior to even a normal Sun Elf.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: She's bound to come into contact with non-elves sooner or later. Perhaps they'll manage to change her perception of them and maybe, just maybe, even befriend her.
