Charge - Worth it?
Was wondering about this one. I was thinking of taking the whole line of feats, but not sure if it is worth the investment. Powerful Charge, Dire Charge, Improved Initiative - those are three feats there, one of which is Epic, + I will need that Background feat.
Also, if someone can clarify, does Charge grant bonus to Knockdown checks? I remember reading something about it, but I want to be sure. Thanks.

Don't think it does.
But I got my Dwarven Battlerager, and Dire charge is fun whenever I use it. Charge at the next monster to make sure it targets my tanky character instead of the more squishy party members.
And the +AB and Damage is a nice perk on top of it all.

Re: Charge - Worth it?
According to the feat descriptions, Powerful Charge gives a size modifier and imp. knockdown bonus should stack with that, but I don't know if that's the case. Can anyone confirm?
Powerful Charge
Type of Feat: General
Prerequisites: Charge
Specifics: When you charge, if your melee attack hits, it deals an extra 1d8 points of damage for medium size creatures and 1d6 for anything smaller. Large creatures gain an extra damage of 2d6; Huge gain 3d6; Gargantuan gain 4d6 and Colossal 6d6. This feat works only when you make a charge. It does not work when you're mounted. If you have the ability to make multiple attacks on a charge, you may apply this extra damage to all of those attacks in the round provided you do so before the charge expires. This feat also increases the damage of a Shield that is used as a weapon during a charge action.
Use: Automatically
"You Charge with extra force as if you are a full size category larger than you actually are"
Shield Charge
Type of Feat: General
Prerequisites: Shield Bash, Base Attack Bonus + 3
Specifics: If you hit an opponent with your shield as part of a charge action, in addition to dealing damage normally, you will perform a trip check without provoking an attack of opportunity. If you lose, the defender does not get to try to trip you in return. Size increasing or diminishing effects can affect your trip. (The +4 size bonus from Powerful Charge applies as well as a +4 for Improved Knockdown)
Use: Automatically once a Shield ability such as Shield Bash or Shield Slam hits a target during a charge or Selected

Re: Charge - Worth it?
Rasael has to confirm if it works that way Styxwash, the bonuses you mentioned were a bit jinxed.
As for the Charge line i super like it... to bad only dwarfs have easy acces to it, would love a PRC for other races that involves that feats

Re: Charge - Worth it?
That's nice to hear, was wondering about it myself.
Charge knockdown + Shield Slam seems like a strong combination with high strength. Very good DC's on both Knockdown and Daze. Should mean you can knockdown most things that can't be dazed or the other way around (unless ofc. it's some crazy immune boss mob where both likely fails.)

Charge does not increase your knockdown check. Not because it shouldn't, but because Knockdown is hardcoded so that we cannot change it. You do get a bonus with Shield Charge, which essentially does a knockdown.

And when it comes to Shield Charge/Slam, a strength based Fighter 14/Rogue 16 is a pretty neat option to consider. Against a single opponent, you can keep the target knocked down one round, and the other round him dazed letting all your attacks deal sneak attack damage.

Re: Charge - Worth it?
I only wish the shield slam had some kind of VFX once they are dazed. I always get the OOC after PvP. ///I couldn't do anything.. I bugged out in the middle of the fight.
I have to explain to them that they failed the DC of the shield Slam and that they were dazed. Maybe have those question marks surround them for the round they are dazed so there is no confusion.

Now that is a very good idea.

Re: Charge - Worth it?
I'm not sure still how the stacking works - if I make a Shield Charge Knockdown and I have both Powerful Charge and Improved Knockdown, will I get a double bonus for size modifier +4, meaning a total of +8? Or do I just need Powerful Charge for a one time size bonus and the regular knockdown feats are unrelated? (aside from going on the same cooldown, I believe I read)Rasael wrote:Charge does not increase your knockdown check. Indeed, since if those bonuses stack you could knockdown with the force of 16 more points of strength, which combined with extreme strength and rage might let you charge people down effectively with nearing the force of 50 strength or possibly even more, meaning insane +22-24 on strength rolls.AlfarinIcebreaker wrote:Was wondering the same.Styxwash wrote:I'm not sure still how the stacking works - if I make a Shield Charge Knockdown and I have both Powerful Charge and Improved Knockdown, will I get a double bonus for size modifier +4, meaning a total of +8? Yes I think it works that way. And you get another +4 if you are affected by a size increasing spell. On the contrary you also 4 if you are affected by a size reducing spell.

I didn't think it worked like that in NWN2? Did you do that yourself?Rasael wrote:Yes I think it works that way. And you get another +4 if you are affected by a size increasing spell. On the contrary you also 4 if you are affected by a size reducing spell.
