Brin is always cheerful and playful, it's rare to see her serious. Her behavior is often childish, and she doesn't think much before speaking. This and her impuslive nature, getting in trouble often. She relies much on Kayden's protection, but at the same time she wants to help him anyway she can since she considers him as a big brother. Background:
I don't remember much of my first years of life, but they're the ones I would really know a lot of. My mother, my real mother, died when I was three years old, I can barely remember her face. My father, Alek, used to say I'm just like her, but I think he always meant something more than what could meet the eyes. My father got married again, to a noblewoman of a minor house. She's been a lovely mother to me, she accepted me since the first day we met. She gave birth to my little sister Rina, the person I love the most in the world, and we all grew up together like a normal, happy and well-off family.
I'm confused about that day though, I can't remember it clearly but at the same time I know I'll never forget it. I'm speaking of the day that changed my life, the one that started all the events that brought me here today. I was fourteen and we were at the harbor... myself, my mother and my sister. There was Kayden with us, he was so proud that his father let him accompany us on his own. Waterdeep's harbor is dangerous, but we had to go there for something regarding the family buisiness. I don't remember what actually, I never gave much importance to that. I don't remember even why we left the main streets and took that tiny alley. But I remember clearly the three man that surrounded us. One of them charged Kayden pushing him through a shop window, another one followed them to fight in there. I was still in the alley with my mother when the third one grabbed my sister. They were not satisfied with the jewels and the coins we had, they thought to ask for more in exchange of her. My mother was crying, clasping me in her arms. The thing I remember better however is the knife, so near to my little sister neck. Then it's all confused. I lost sight of the scene, I heard that voice... hard to say if it was of a man or a woman. It spoke of something about what I was born with, what my mother chose, what I could've done and what I would have to do. The only thing that the younger me understood, was that I could save my sister if I accepted what that voice was saying. And I did. The moment after I was back to the harbor again. My stepmothers arms were shaking and were letting me go, almost pulling me away. The man who was holding my sister was lying on the ground, and she was running in our direction crying.
Since that day, my stepmother changed. She kept my sister away from me, she became cold like I was someone else. I didn't feel myself at home anymore, and the weight of that life I took was heavier day after day. My father found me a master that taught me how to control the power, but what really saved me was the small group of worshippers of Llira I met at the Plinth. Their way of life and their good hearts helped me to keep my mind busy and understand what happened. They convinced me I could do something good despite what I did in the past. They taught me to smile even in in the face of adversity.
Today I know much more of myself and that power, but I don't still know where it comes from. I know that I have killed with it, and I know that I'm in debt to whoever offered it to me. Sometimes it scares me, it's growing stronger and I don't know if it's a good or bad thing.
I left my home in Waterdeep becouse I became a stranger in there. But it's not only that, there is something that whispers me during the night. I want to see the world, not the cities and their people, but that part of world that lies out of the cities' walls and I've never known: forests, lakes and everything that lives there.
Goals:
- Become a fine adventurer like the ones she reads in the tales.
- Discover more about her powers and her real mother.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
- Brinael feels a strong relationship to the natural world and this can make her act oddly (more than usual) when exposed to the wildlife.
- She doesn't know much about her powers, and this could cause her problems.
- She loves her family, and her sister over all. She could do anything to help them if they would be in danger even if they're far in the north.
