Background: Fronn was born the son of a wealthy merchant couple from Waterdeep. His father, Trian Darnis was a closeted Baneite. Fronn's earliest memories of his childhood are not happy ones. His father was harshly demanding, for he saw in his son a great opportunity to appease the Black Lord in the offering of his son. Though not a blood offering, he did sell Fronn into the service of Bane in promise of wealth and power in Waterdeep.
As a child Fronn had all the advantages that come with wealth. He was highly educated by the finest tutors, he was trained in martial combat with equally fine warriors. He very much enjoyed his lessons in the beginning, before his servitude to Bane began. When Fronn was eight Trian began the process. Every night at midnight Fronn was awoken from slumber by his father and a mysterious man that would not identify himself. The first night the man placed Fronn under a Geas, a compulsion to Never Speak of you Worship of Bane to any others unless Commanded by a High Cleric of Bane or the Black Lord himself. They began rituals, praying to Bane and committing ritualistic torture ans sacrifice of urchin children and the destitute homeless. Soon it became regular routine, studies and training during the day, and praying and rituals at night.
Despite the harshness of the rituals and the horrifying deeds he was forced to commit, Fronn excelled. Soon enough he found himself fully engrossed in the dogma of the Black Lord, even coming to anticipate midnight with eagerness. The one issue he had with his life was his mother. When he was a boy his father was only ever demanding and punishing. Fronn's mother was the only person in his life that showed him any love. Trian often feared his wife was coddling Fronn and she was severely beaten on more than one occasion. Around the house she was berated constantly treated little better than a slave. Her will was so crushed by the time Fronn began his Baneite transition that she couldn't even muster enough courage to tell the Watch. Over the next decade Fronn's hatred was fueled by the horrible treatment of the only kindness he had ever known.
When Fronn was twenty-one the mysterious man finally revealed his true identity. He was a high ranking Cleric in the Clergy of Bane, calling himself Demeris Kayne. He had been helping Trian, as Bane had promised, but now the time had come when Trian had outlived his usefulness. A series of poor business decisions brought about by pettiness had cost Trian dearly and nearly exposed himself and Fronn to the Lords of Waterdeep and their City Watch, as well as a few Paladins of Helm. That night during their midnight rituals, Fronn beat Trian to death with his bare hands, unleashing the pent up hatred he had for his father. He then left the broken man and sough out his mother. He smothered her while she slept, and left her there, disgusted.
After setting fire to their expansive estate and murdering the one remaining house guard Fronn gathered what assets he could and left Waterdeep. Fronn refused the offer of Demeris Kayne to join him, and insisted Bane had a different plan for Fronn. So the young man set off on a journey, determined to find power enough to free him of the chains of the past. Even though he committed many despicable deeds in secret, he managed to hide his true nature from many over the next decade, moving from place to place quickly and never becoming close with anyone. Recently Fronn has felt his god calling him to become more than a vessel of hatred and strife and become a part of something greater than himself, somewhere along the Sword Coast.
Goals: Fronn's only goal comes in serving Bane. He amasses power solely for the purpose of one day walking free of his Geas and openly spreading tyranny, hatred, and strife in Bane's name. He seeks not only martial power, but influence as well. He aims to make lasting ties with people of power along the Coast and will go to great lengths to see them indebted to him. He also searches for an organization or Clergy of Bane to better further his god's demands and release him from his Geas.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: He is generally on good terms with law enforcement, for hiding his true self had been the focus of much of his education since childhood, and also is demanded by his Geas. Sometimes. when coming to a new town or city, he will even preform tasks for the local garrison, to ensue doubt in them should he ever be accused of evil.
A Paladin of Helm from Waterdeep has never fully believed the fire at the Darnis estate was accidental and has suspected for years that they may have need Baneites. He has heard rumors of a man matching Fronn's description up and down the Coast and has become determined to find him and uncover the truth.
Demeris Kayne still waits to see Fronn. He had known Fronn for decades and eagerly waits to see how his grooming went. He has been shadowing Fronn for years, scrying him and waiting patiently.
