Race: Human (half nord - half ffolk of the Moonshaes)
APPEREANCE
Age:21
Height:179 cent.
Weight: 85 kg
Eyes: blue fading into gray
Hair: brown with coppery highlights from the sun
Facial hair: usually a two-three day scruff
PERSONALITY
Health: a specimen of eager youth
Deity: venerates several gods; Tempus after his father, Earthmother (Chauntea) after his mother and Shaundakul and Valkur after his uncle
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Base Class: Barbarian
Developement: Skald, a warrior bard of the Moonshaes (Barbarian/Bard, not sure about any prestiege classes, these two will suffice methinks)
Languages: Common, Illuskan and Alzhedo (learned on his sea voyages south with his uncle)
Weapon: A battleaxe and wither a small shield or a kukri brought from Calimport. Sometimes uses throwing darts.
Habits: Playing his instruments, listening to tales and feasting. Sometimes getting into trouble over fair maidens, innocent victims or people who play on how gullible he is.
HISTORY
Naul was born on Oman's Isle, in a small settlement not far from Iron Keep. His mother Utah, was a Ffolk woman who was captured in a nordlander raid on a small fishing hammlet on the coasts of Alaron. Naul's father Lonse, took part in the raid himself and took a liking to the warlords fair prisoner. He traded his entire share of plunder for Utah and took her as his slave bride. Utah tried first to kill the warrior in his sleep once they were back on Oman's. Having failed on several occasions she tried to take her own life. Lonse stopped her in the last moment before she drank a concoction made for her by a local herbalist and midwife.
Something changed in the rugged warrior that day, as he began treating Utah with actual concern and even affection. He did not know that she was already with child. In the following months, as the woman's pregnancy became obvious, Lonse married her under the laws of his tribe and made her a free woman. He vowed to protet her and their child and to provide for them both. Unknowingly, Utah found compassion for him and accepted. Several months later, in the spring of 1332, Naul was born.
Having reached the age of 8, the boy had to start doing his chores for the family and tribe. He had to watch over sheep, gather firewood and berries as well as clean the homestead and help his mother. All was well, with his parents in love, his future as a warrior at his fathers side was assured. Disaster came in they year 1345, when the Dalkwalker came to the Moonshaes. Naul was 13 years old then, and he was away on his first sea voyage with his father's brother Leifhart, when the monster's power took away his parents. Little has been revealed to him as to what transpired. Some say it was the work of vengeful druids of the Ffolk for unleashing savage beasts on the village. Others blame some mercenary wizard, hired by someone the raiders robbed in the past. Most tales circulate about the cause of all the dark deeds that fell upon the Moonshaes in those years. Kazgoroth.
As he returned to his home with his uncle and a few brave men who were not affraid to face the wrath of the Beast, Naul could only witness the remains of his family. The funeral was brief and not much was said, so deep was the young mans sorrow. Uncle Leifhart took the lad with him, and showed him the mournfull tunes of the Nordlander tradition. The Skald showed the boy how to fight, how to act, but most importantly, how to interpret old Illusk signs of power in voice and song. Naul sailed with his uncle to the Shining South, seeing more of the Calim coast than many of his older kinfolk. His work on board a merchant knarr has since made him into a strong and brave man. Feeling for the lads future, Leifhart decided it is time for Naul to leave his cramped cabin and make his own fortune.
With his entire savings from 8 long years of studying and working under the sails of a Nord ship, Naul disembarks in the river port of Baldur's Gate.
