Excerpts of Varra Pegason's book of song and poetry

Unread post by PiaMango »

*Though Varra may own many book of song and poetry there is one she holds dearest to heart. It is a fairly simple leather bound book, on its cover is impressed a Pegasus flying out from a holy symbol of Lathander*
“Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light.
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”

/// Quote from the Old Astronomer by Sarah Williams, the rest of song and poetry contained by this journal is original unless otherwise noted.

Genevieve Pegason

To my beloved daughter. May you tuck away your stars in this book to bring hope through the darkest of nights.

“Even a mote of ember dancing on the wind,
Can ignite the world fiery passion anew,
If only you nurture it in your heart.”

“A proud lion can lose its mane, the symbol of its pride.
Yet it stands tall still, unwavering in its stride.
Symbols matter not to him, he holds his head up high.
His ancestors help him stand, reaching down from the sky."

"Like a leaf bobbing in a stream,
you are forever dancing in my dreams.
As of late the stream rise and swell,
from my praying tears that you be well."

"Through the birds I hear your voice,
their song grants a moments peace.
I see clearer now why you made your choice,
and know my love for you will never cease."

“Conflict to the soothing drumming of the wave,
Each heartbeat painfully mourning your grave.”

“The shifting breeze leaves whispers upon its trail.
I stand listening for its voice, to no avail.
Calling out as it passes, leaving me to yearn.
Forlorn I wait, in hope that breeze will return.”

Don't lose your way

Like a dream, you pass by, leaving me in wonder why
Yet now I see, the truth, long has passed your youth
No more the days of young, tales read, played and sung
It is now who you are, tales told through your battle scar

Don’t lose your way, through the night
Stay to your path, what is right
With fiery passion in your eyes
Though the shadow we will rise

Crusading you stand tall, unwavering, lend all
With every step you advance, your sword follows in dance
Each swing just, each strike true, each thrust order you hew
Enduring bloodshed grit the beacon remains lit

Don’t lose your way, through the night
Stay to your path, what is right
With fiery passion in your eyes
Though the shadow we will rise

Faith is your noble steed, on it you charge deed to deed
A struggle without cease, fighting in the name of peace
When evil lays at your feet, up turn your eyes and the Dawn meet
As battles pass lay your sword, bask but a moment in your reward

My Caterpillar

Summers eve' finding you resting beside my pond,
A caterpillar of which I quick grew fond.
Together we would bask in white roses scent,
For you the nights I would sing till my hearts content.

As the leaves of Autumn fell, so did our hearts,
A doused beacon, leaves piercing, shrill darts.
The rains were heavy, yet we had one another.
It was not long I came to love you as a mother.

Through the dark nights of winter I had thought you lost.
To hug my caterpillar again I would pay any cost.
As the storm passed beneath a royal moon,
Sat there, reclined deep within your cocoon.

The dawn of spring brought promise, one wrought in strife.
Your cocoon blossomed, radiance sought new life.
Watching you emerge I hesitated in wonder what you may be.
I see clearly now my butterfly, you
will soar free.
