Silas is rarely seen in his normal form. In it he is thin and weak; healthy, but frail in his advanced age. When he is in his natural form, he is often reduced to nearly half of his normal size, standing just over a foot tall, to better stay hidden. His face is painted in the colors of his surroundings and the soil beneath him. He dresses in ragged clothes made of an exotic hide, small pouches, feathers, shells, and bits of bone adorn him. He wears a hard leather cap, with large protruding antlers that are nearly as tall as he is. He is wrapped in a warm cloak, and leans upon his always-present oaken staff, appearing charred as if by lightning. He walks barefoot to stay connected with the ground.

His natural form slowed and weakened by age, he is more often found appearing as a white wolf, a small treant, a leopard, or less often even a dragon. Silas, over time, has begun to lose a sense of his personal identity, identifying more as simply a “being” of nature.

Personality Profile:
Old age has tempered the fire within Silas. He is soft spoken but resolute, wise but quick witted. He prefers a path of peace for conflict between goodly races and those that live with nature peacefully, but shows little mercy for those defiling or raping the lands he watches over.

General Health: In his natural shape he is small, weak, and frail. His alternate forms, however, are prime specimens.
Deity: Silvanus, though he views several nature-gods favorably and offers prayers to Gwaeron Winstrom, Meilikki, Shiallia, Sheela Peryoll, Chauntea, and even Solonar Thelandira.. having interacted with their followes many times in the High Forest.

Background:
Born among a very small band of hin along the edges of the southern High Forest, Silas’ mother was a priestess and healer of Shiallia, his father the band’s hunter. As was their people’s custom, during the ‘Green Moot’, once every 40 years the village put forth their young men, one of whom was then selected to leave the village and study under the care of ‘The Green Cloak’, a hierophant druid of the High Forest who at the time was one named Auderan, a hin of unnatural age and wisdom. Fate had it that Silas, then a young adult of 22 winters, was selected. He left at once to learn the ways of the wood, the druidic circle, and life outside of villages.

Some decades later, having learned much under Auderan, having watched his village disperse as the old passed on and the young moved away, he was on his own as a guardian of the forest. It was during this time that he fell upon and took in Krisyl’lyn, a very young elven lass who’d lost her village to orc depredation and had become somewhat feral. He took her in and taught her balance, the ways of the wood, and introduced her to other druids, rangers, and forest creatures as she grew into herself.

After several years together the pair had come south, in search of.. something.. but after a time here they had parted ways. He returned to the High Forest. Having recently heard of the Black Orc plague upon the Misty Forest, and worse upon the High Moor, he had returned in search of his lost.. apprentice? Friend? Daughter? Thus far he has had no luck in finding her..

Though the trail has just become a bit warmer.
