Noob seeking build advice

Unread post by Severin »

hi all, i was hoping someone could give me some input on a build.

im currently a lvl 5 dwarven barbarian, i plan on taking both battlerager and frenzied berzerker PrCs.

i was thinking about taking lvls in bear warrior or fighter to round it out. i made a char on the test module i found on these forums to play around with and the bear form was not working. i was wondering is this just a bug on the module? does bear form work correctly on the server?

also i see that the unarmed feats work on bear form? are they required? does weapon dmg translate or not say if im using a greataxe?

thanks in advance. ~

Bear form works on the server. When you transform, a little window will pop up from where you can use knockdown and charge while in that form. Weapon damage doesn't transfer. However, all feats on unarmed attacks will help bear form.

You'll probably get a better build by using something like 16 Fighter, 5 battle rager, 5 berzerker, 4 barbarian.

thanks for the quick reply.

i am already on my 5th barb lvl, should i be too worried? i could just take rager, then fb then finish with all 13 lvls of fighter?

what about 12 f/8 barb?

You might consider the RCR, from the NPC in the nexus. It means you delete the character, but store half the xp of that character on the NPC. Then you log in with a fresh level 1 character, talk to that NPC, and you get the xp back (50% of what you had before deletion). This means you don't lose that much, and can put some more planning into the character that you'll be playing for hopefully a long time. It's worth it to invest that little bit of time so you'll be happy later on.

Here are the differences between the builds:

12 fighter, 8 barbarian, 5 berzerker, 5 rager

1/- damage reduction
3 barbarian rages instead of 2
improved uncanny dodge
8 more HP

16 fighter, 4 barbarian, 5 berzerker, 5 rager

2 extra epic feats

----

I think that the latter will be more useful, since it can be +2 STR, but it's not a big deal either way. Barbarian is downplayed in both builds. How important is the rager/barbarian thing for the roleplay? Can you manage with just berzerker? If so, a build like 18 fighter, 5 berzerker, 3 rogue, 4 divine champion will be superior in everything compared to the two builds above, especially since it manages to get expose weakness on top of better damage, ab and ac. An alternative is 18 fighter, 5 berzerker, 3 ranger, 4 rogue.

Consider what you want to play, and what the playstyle is.
