I'm level 26 and still getting dispelled regularly in the Wyrm Caves. I wanted to find out if my toon is bugged somehow or if the nagas just have a really high CL. I'm losing from 2-8 buffs per greater dispel there.

They're level 23 wizards so it's normal.

Greater dispel check:

1d20 + 20 (caster level) vs 11 + 27(char level)

1d20+20 vs 38 -> 10% to dispel each buff

More popular in wyrm cave are lesser spell breaches which remove 2 buffs from breach list without any caster check.

What spell gets you dispelled?

The Greater dispel can dispel a character with 29CL ( 5% chance for every spell i think ) provided the caster has enough caster levels.

The Mords will get most of your spells and nagas cast mords regularly

It's greater dispel every time. Usually the nagas are dead before they get to the breach and I can't ever remember getting Mords. I'm not losing as many wards as I used to, but I still lose a few. Of course, my FS has at least 18 wards active, so with a ten percent chance, I'm bound to lose some.

Unless it was changed for the server, greater dispels are capped at adding 15 to the dispel check and only caster level (not character level) is considered in the check. So the check would be:

15+d20 vs 11+caster level

If you have a caster level of greater than 24 you should not get dispelled at all. Therefore, multi-classing can hurt in this regard unless you have practiced spell caster to raise your caster level by 4 using non-caster classes. So if you have a caster level of 20, you will have a 25% of having a buff dispelled. Mords is a different story because it will automatically strip you of 6 buffs that are in the spell breach list and then try to dispel each spell with no cap to caster level (rather than the 15 cap of greater dispel).

Basically, unless as you level you are increasing your caster level, you will continue to get dispelled.

Greater dispel magic was changed here, and is capped to 20.

I have never seen a naga cast mords.
