Could someone point me to a good source of drow lore? Preferably without copyright, free on the net.

thanks!

How in-depth are you looking to go with it? A decent introduction, drafted from source materials, is right here on our Lore of the Lands subforum: Subject: Elves

Some good local lore can be drawn from these two links:

This is sorta kinda copy-pasted from the books but it is not the book itself so!

Thanks a lot. Ample read.

It would be interesting to read something from an individual drow perspective rather than the grand scheme of politics. meaning how does a drow spend his youth. what does he/she go through on the way to adulthood. does chaotic/evil alignment mean being sociopathic or are drow capable of social interactions (i would strongly think so). Keep it coming if you got ideas on this...

Good linking above.

Novels are not canon but since you wanted the individual perspective on the society and its workings...

R A Salvatore's Homeland novel.

The guy pretty much created the drow fandom and the book is filled with so much explanation of how drow society works at its core.
Society Lolth ruled or not, Sshamath is run by dastardly wizards since some 4.000 years ago ( 10-20 generations only).

Try to look past that Drizzt guy and look at what is around him. Then do a twist of what you see and trade wizards for priestessess.

The very first 'Daughter of the Drow' books have some pointers on a less political drow life, but perhaps not a 'common' life. But it might color a somewhat whimsical picture, seeing as the main character is more neutral than evil.

Self serving and competative, I think is the main things to remember. With everything from dance (yes, even lolthlites dance) to war, they will seek satisfaction and to profit for themselves.

Not all drow are sly and cunning. Some are bat-shit crazy sauce, speaking more about the clerics of Lolth. Their used to be a Matron Mother that used to fight on the front lines with her house wielding a battle axe and yes she was crazy along with all of her daughters.

I also remember a huge drow-barian fighting in the war for mithril hall. Well i'm sure he was more of a weapon master, but compared to other drow, he was described like a hulk.
