Background: Jorn grew up in a small nameless village on the coast between Waterdeep and Daggerford. His father, Odger, found him orphaned; someone had left him within the door of his adoptive father’s forge. His father trained him as a blacksmith, but after meeting Earowyn, a beautiful wood elf, near the Ardeep Forest, Jorn and his future bride left for a life of adventuring.

They eventually found their way to Baldur's Gate, where he found employment as a guard in the now defunct Adventurer’s Guild. He had many good friends and comrades in arms in those days. One of which was elven lass by the name of Maradar, with whom he fell in love. Because of this love, when he fell in battle against dread pirates, and with Maradar unable to save him, his wife Earowyn let his body rot in the damp caves for many months. Eventually, Earowyn forgave him and had his remains retrieved, but she only had enough coin to pay some cleric a paltry amount to bring him back to life. But no more than that. To this day he still is covered with horrible scars. He left the Sword Coast to wander the realms a couple years ago, only to return just recently, for reasons unknown to even him.

Goals: He has no goals that he knows of (see below).
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: He needs to find his faith again, and to do so he will need to find love (not necessarily romantic) and camaraderie.

((( I have made Jorn a tank, but by realistic standards, meaning humanly weak. He is not an unstoppable granite wall. And he is needing to gather an adventuring fellowship. He will unknowingly walk into the most obvious trap. The only way to open a locked chest is to bash it with his hammer until the lock pops, and anything inside is destroyed. He can bandage himself and a fellow, but no more than that. All he can offer for protection is himself in front. He needs people that can do what they are best at, without having to be told how to do what they know. )))

My name is Jorn. I will promise no more than the treasure you find, and the near certain chance that if you think you are a hero, that you will die. I need a band of adventures that can do their part without the need to be told... An archer stands back and protects from that place. A healer stays out of combat, healing those in need... unless you have no choice but to bring your faith's force to bear. And very important, a thief; you would have a most dangerous job... disarm traps, scout ahead, see and hear what others cannot. -- To said thief, I know your nature is to pilfer. Be careful that you do not get caught within my troop. ((( I expect that you might steal and pick pocket, and any that wants to play with us will understand the same. No taking weapons, armor, nor anything of true value. ))) The consequences of getting caught may be dire... for yourself. --

If you are interested, leave a note with the barkeep of the Blushing Mermaid, in Baldur's Gate.

Tarsakh 28, 1351

It is past time I start keeping a written account of myself.

It has been nearly eight years* since I’ve returned to the Sword Coast, and I’ve finally have regained my martial skills in full, but not my reason for continuing on. I still believe in the Gods, but they surely do not deserve my faith.

I’ve heard nothing of my wife, Erowyn. The last I saw of her was as a distant figure walking off as I regained consciousness after my “raising” at the hands of that pitiful excuse of a cleric. Perhaps she returned to her home in the Ardeep Forest.

And my Maradar? She I saw but a few times after being brought back from the dead. Does she still breathe? If so, I doubt she would care to see me again. I try to forget her name, just as I have her face.

I walk these lands looking for faces of my comrades in arms from a time that is long past. I am alone.

No God. No friends. I am truly alone.

This must change. Tomorrow I shall see if any are in need of an experienced sellsword. I have seen a glut of new faces; some barely knowing which end of a weapon to fight with. Surely some would welcome my protection.

*/// It was about 8 months ago I came back to BG:TSCC, using my character from before I took a break.
