Ranger synergy?

Does the ranger feat favored power attack synergize with supreme power attack from frenzied berserker lv10?

IE:
Will the twohander triple damage from favored power attack combine with the superior power attack +24? :shock:

Considering a few one trick pony builds here... among them a nasty dragonslayer...

Should, yes. I haven't actually tested it. But this build should do hits in the 90s on giants.

No, it doesn't work like that.

The wording of the Favored Power Attack is rather poor, but what it actually does, is increase the Power Attack multiplier, much like the Weapon Master feat Increased Multiplier does.

The formula for Power Attack is:
  • D = P * M * W
where
  • D = damage
    P = Power Attack Bonus (3 for PA, 6 for IPA)
    M = Power Attack Multiplier (1 for PA/IPA, 1.6 for EPA, 2 for SPA)
    W = Wielding Multiplier (1 for 1H, 2 for 2H; FPA adds 1 to both multipliers)
Power Attack
Hidden: show
With 1H
D = 3 * 1 * 1 = 3

With 2H
D = 3 * 1 * 2 = 6

Enhanced with 1H
D = 3 * 1.6 * 1 = 5

Enhanced with 2H
D = 3 * 1.6 * 2 = 10

Supreme with 1H
D = 3 * 2 * 1 = 6

Supreme with 2H
D = 3 * 2 * 2 = 12
Improved Power Attack
Hidden: show
With 1H
D = 6 * 1 * 1 = 6

With 2H
D = 6 * 1 * 2 = 12

Enhanced with 1H
D = 6 * 1.6 * 1 = 10

Enhanced with 2H
D = 6 * 1.6 * 2 = 20

Supreme with 1H
D = 6 * 2 * 1 = 12

Supreme with 2H
D = 6 * 2 * 2 = 24
Favored Power Attack
Hidden: show
With 1H
D = 3 * 1 * 2 = 6

With 2H
D = 3 * 1 * 3 = 9

Enhanced with 1H
D = 3 * 1.6 * 2 = 10

Enhanced with 2H
D = 3 * 1.6 * 3 = 15

Supreme with 1H
D = 3 * 2 * 2 = 12

Supreme with 2H
D = 3 * 2 * 3 = 18
Favored Improved Power Attack
Hidden: show
With 1H
D = 6 * 1 * 2 = 12

With 2H
D = 6 * 1 * 3 = 18

Enhanced with 1H
D = 6 * 1.6 * 2 = 20

Enhanced with 2H
D = 6 * 1.6 * 3 = 30

Supreme with 1H
D = 6 * 2 * 2 = 24

Supreme with 2H
D = 6 * 2 * 3 = 36
So a Frezerker 10 / Ranger X with Improved Power Attack will add up to 36 damage.

Have you tested this, mireigi?

It's +36 from power attack with favored power attack.

Source: Randall used to have ranger class before his RCR, and had favored power attack: Elves.

(He was a fighter/FB/barbarian/ranger. Manly classes, yes. Then he became a girl and obviously got weaponmaster and rogue. :lol: )

:)

With Favored Supreme Improved Power Attack yes.

No, it is what the discussion on the NWN2Wiki states. It also makes sense, as the feat states that the bonus damage from Power Attack is doubled or trippled depending on it being 1H or 2H, not that the damage is further multiplied.

I see.

Well, either way that is a world of hurt with a STR toon on frenzy. ;)

Ranger 3 / Fighter 12 / Frezerker 8 / WM 7

20 Base Strength
+7 Increases
+1 Great Strength
+10 Greater Frenzy
38 Total = 14 Mod

Damage with Favored Superior Improved PA 2H (Scythe +3)
2d4 + 3 + 14 * 1.5 + 6 + 2 + 36 = 2d4 + 68 (17-20/x5)

That is 70 - 76 dmg with a 20% chance for 350 - 380 dmg crits. Anything basicly melts :)

I kinda prefer 40% for a x3 instead. :P

True for a single target, but if your fighting multiple enemies that aren't so tough, those cleave chains you can get from a scythe is just plain mind blowing =p

Scimitar is the best pick for WM around here though, never that many monsters at once. Unless you gather them around you ofc. but killing one at a time is likely faster and less risky with scimitar.
