Background:
Known in the wilds of the north as the Waylayer, Kalsigur was born the only son of a pair drug addled socialites in the city of Luskan. At a young age, he was kidnapped by bandits and held for ransom. His parents, who were selfish, greedy, and known addicts of Traveler's Dust, reneged on their obligation to care for their child, and took advantage of the opportunity to walk the crimson road instead of paying the ransom.
And so young Kalsigur, with no one to pay for his life, was tossed aside like rubbish after his failed ransomers fled the city during the onset of a fierce northern winter.
Left only to his own devices, Kalsigur made his way to the Neverwinter Woods, where he sought shelter from the biting wind. It was there that Malar first whispered in his ear, encouraging him to seek the warmth of fresh blood as his salvation. At first he resisted, and spent the winter in a hollowed out tree stump, eating moss and lichens, foraging for mushrooms and trapping the occasional rodent. It was through the harsh suffering and struggle that Kalsigur came to understand the ways of nature: that in the mortal realm, there is no order, only chaos - the way of the world is neither good nor evil, it is who lives and who dies; survival.
As time went on, so too did Malar's whispers become louder, begging him to take to the hunt. Years passed, and he grew stronger, more agile, heartier, and even a bit wiser. Having but only a basic education before his abduction, he depended more on his empirical observations of the world than that which could be gleaned from books. he learned to stalk his prey by moonlight, to crouch silently in shadow and to notice even the slightest cracked twig or hewn leaf left by unsuspecting quarry.
Always suspicious of people, he made his way down the Sword Coast, stopping in towns and villages only to replenish is supplies -and for the occasional ale or wench. He worked as a hunter for hire, catching beast and bounty for any patron willing to pay his price - and so life went on for many years.
One day, while taking reprieve in the Inn of the Dripping Dagger - a common haunt of his - he overheard a drunken sailor spin a tale about two aged Luskan socialites and con-artists who had been thrown in jail in Baldur's Gate on account of a drug deal gone wrong, and that they had been claiming to be of noble descent.
The next morning, Kalsigur had bought a ticket on the ship, Luminous Visage, headed straight for Baldur's Gate. Staring out on the Sea of Swords, he gripped the railing on the bow of the ship, thinking one thing over and over...Who am I?
Goals:
Kalsigur seeks to quench his bloodlust and tear the beating hearts out of the kidnappers who stole him from his former life. Additionally, he vows to make find his parents and make them pay for abandoning him as a youth, forsaking him his lineage. He seeks these things not in vengeance, but rather in the interest of balance in all things, and ultimately; for survival.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
[*]Hates Undead, as he considers them wholly unnatural - though he understands chaos and the inability for suffering souls to find peace. He enjoys helping them find that peace.
[*]Doesn't like cucumbers, or any gourds for that matter.
[*]Prefers solitude, but is known to tolerate the company of others.
[*]Loves women. A lot.
