Background:

A seasoned veteran of many a sea voyage, and former Captain of the illustrious ship known as the Luminous Visage, Darvo Webber has travelled as far north as the Spine of the World, and as south as the exotic Jungles of Chult. If Darvo’s 42 years on the high-seas taught him anything, they taught him this: That the difference between Brigands and Rangers, Pirates and Sailors, is not so much a matter of moral fortitude, but rather one of need and desperation; haves and have nots.

Darvo prefers to see himself as a simple sailor, but as hinted above, his means were not always plentiful, and while he prefers the life of one who “has” at times he “had not”. This occasionally resulted in a few desperate acts of piracy, which went against the precepts of Darvo’s chosen god, Valkur. Darvo fervently believes the loss of his eye is a direct consequence of his illicit actions, and has since vowed never again to take on the mantle of pirate.

However, despite Darvo’s vow, (or perhaps because his sincerity was suspect) Valkur’s wraith had not been limited to the theft of Darvo’s eye, but also the hearts of his crew. Desponded by increasingly ill-favored winds and spurred by the fatal accidents that ensued, the crew rose up against Darvo in hopes of abating Vulkar’s wraith. During a routine cargo and passenger transport from the city of Luskan to the port of Baldur’s Gate, the crew of the Luminous Visage mutinied.

And so it was that Darvo arrived in Baldur’s Gate shippless, destitute, and alone for all but one individual, his most recent and possibly last passenger ever: the Ranger known as Kalsigur The Waylayer.

Only time can tell us how Darvo’s tale will end; whether his soul is salvageable, or damned to one of the planar circles of hell, only the gods can say.

Goals:

Fortune. Darvo likes gold, and prefers it in large quantities. He also seeks to renew his favor with Valkur, and to ride the high-seas once more as Captain.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:

Having been both pirate and privateer, there are many a cutthroat and bounty hunter alike who would love to see Darvo dead.
