"To be bold is to live. Face the dragon within.
May invention, creation and learning guide one through life...
...and the Weave empower your sword.

Casual Attire: He wears a broad-rimmed hat, that adequately protects his head from the more-than-occasional rain found in the region. A thick and fitted cloak lays comfortably over his shoulders, keeping him additionally protected from the elements.

Adventuring Garb: Adorned in a fine mithral plate mail armor, he has sheathed at his side either a fine darksteel blade, or carries a great axe of unique arcane-illustrated design.

On his person, in general, can be seen a dagger of some quality at his belt, and opposite side of his waist is a carrying pouch fit for a traveling spellbook. Habits/Hobbies:
  • - Odilon has the habit of appearing to either be in a hurry, or actually be in a hurry. Periodically this comes across as a sign of disinterest in his immediate surroundings, to his own dismay...though he can't seem to overcome the behavior.
    - Odilon often makes a abstracted note of information he discovers related in any way to the arcane, Weave magic, or mystic text. He owns and contributes these snippets to a small notebook.
    - Odilon has the habit of asking out loud if he should do something or ask something, then answering his own question.
Languages: Common, Halruaan, Thorass...maybe others.
Weapon of Choice: A blade of steel.

Background:
Odilon was born in The Nath, a region of gentle hills in northern Halruaa, in the year of 1313. In 1314, the dragon Valraxaxath emerged from the Great Swamp due East, and wrecked havoc in the nearby region. Odilon's family was nearly decimated from the attack, while attempting to defend their homestead with the arcane powers that most if not all Halruaans possess. The failure by the family caused a deep rift amongst the sons that escaped with their lives, and many sons of these sons were offered up to a sect of arcane masters that would train the children to be not only possess great arcane studies through study and practice, but knowledgable of the weaknesses and destruction of dragon kind...so be the need and the call. Odilon was a son given to this fate. Thirty-six years later, Odilon had learned much, adventured far from his home, and took risk and bold action to let good fortune and the blessing of Tymora carry his arcane sword in unknown directions. In 1350 Dale Reckoning, Odilon stepped upon the docks of Baldur's Gate, and began a new life upon the Sword Coast.

Goals:
  • - Odilon took study with the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors in Waterdeep—the City of Splendors—half a decade ago (in 1345 DR). His study under the masters skilled in dragon-lore was empowered with greater knowledge than his Halruaan master's were able to instill. Concurrently, he was indoctrinated into the knowledge of the path of the eldritch knight, where both battle-readiness and the act of seeking lore combined with research related to the nature and interpretation of magical texts, appealed to him.
From his time with the Watchful Order, he learned much about the god Deneir, and how the faithful of Deneir held a philosophy and action that suited his own personality, his own interests...and the role of eldritch knight, guardian to mystic knowledge. Pledging himself to Deneir as role model, Odilon took a mission from the Watchful Order to "expand" its watchful eye beyond the walls of Waterdeep...and, specifically to the city of Baldur's Gate. It was there that Odilon would seek out the beginning steps toward the role of eldritch knight of Deneir, as well as having been tasked with creating and guarding a Mnemonicon, an arcane object that contained as many of the hermeneutics of magic as he could collect. He would see to it that it was filled to a certain satisfaction with bits of all encountered knowledge, so he might one day present it to Deneir himself, as gift to the ongoing attempt at understanding the great Metatext.

    - Founding member and proponent of the Coast Way Adventurer's Guild.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Guardians of the Mnemonicon - The Beginning
Guardians of the Mnemonicon - a sect of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors, that has found base and home upon the Sword Coast region, and the city of Baldur's Gate. Essentially an autonomous cell of mages of all callings, they are still subject to leadership from the Head organization based in Waterdeep. For now....

The Mnemonicon is a container of great knowledge that is designed to contain all known spells, wards, and means to access the Weave, both in modern and ancient forms. Two sects of the Guardians exist: those that document and develop modern mnemonics, and those that are sworn to protect them, and the Mnemonicon itself.

One goal of the Guardians is to transfer the contents of the Mnemonicon to a device or vessel capable of independent dialogue and interaction—an automaton beyond known form of golems and gondsmen. From this desire can be found the reason behind the Guardians choosing Baldur's Gate as their base of operations: the Temple of Gond in the Gate is known and respected for leagues (re: The High House of Wonders: Located in the southwest corner of the Upper City. Noted as a museum of various technological marvels as well as being a major temple to Gond).
