Bae'qeshel and other deitys beside Lolth

Hey guys,

I have a question regarding Bae'qeshel. I want to get this out of the way and want to know where you guys stand on this subject before i further roleplay my character into thisdirection, mostly to avoid arguments abt this that might occur in the future before it is already to late.

Anyway, my question: Can i play a bae'qeshel drow here in ur PW who is not worshipping Lolth? In the end the power doesnt come from Lolth but from manipulating the weave via music.

Thanks guys,
take care

Bae'qeshel specifically serve Lolth. Being one and not worshipping Lolth is kind of like being a Flamingfist Mercenary but you've left that organization and work privately for some merchant.

Can't quite go around claiming the Flamingfist Mercenary part anymore.

What you could do, is "have previously been a Bae'qeshel" rather than "currently I'm a Bae'qeshel."

Welcome! 8-)

At first sight I do not see an issue with your concept apart from claiming noble descent. :)

We generally do not permit player characters to claim they are from noble families, although deceased families are okay with me. So long as you do not gain a title or position (including wealth, prestige) on account of the name. Such things have to earned through roleplay on the server. There is one standing exception currently, players are allowed to make characters belonging to House S'shamath. (We reserve the right to intervene if that roleplay is not taken seriously)

Regarding Bae'qeshel I think the best approach right now is that your character can call her abilities such, presumably portrayed by Bard class abilities on your character sheet. As a DM I don't want to say that what you do actually is Bae'qeshel, because I haven't had time to familiarize myself with that, or see your roleplay. That would make for an interesting character related story line, gradually developed through roleplay on the server.

[Edit:] See also Narhse's points regarding Lolth. You'd consider yourself a former Bae'qeshel. Someone like a Bae'qeshel in terms of abilities. Narshe ninja posted.

So to clarify, my best answer is that you're safe to call it Bae'qeshel in the understanding that its your character's interpretation of that old art. Whether or not that interpretation is complete or accurate is something we leave open out-of-characterly, but in any case you aren't a practicing Bae'qeshel since you don't worship Lolth. You'd be a derivate thereof, though I see no issue still calling yourself a Bae'qeshel in so far as it only denotes a Bard.

Thanks for posting, this is my personal feedback.

Thanks a lot for the answers guys i really appreciate it :)

Yes Loulaum that is exactly how i plan to roleplay it since bae'qeshel is just a name for bardic drow art so in my opinion a drow doesnt have to worship lolth in order to manipulate the weave via music (believe me i had very long arguments with some people about this in the past who claimed that my char would not be able to use those powers anymore after she turned her back on lolth which is well yea... doesnt make much sense)

Regarding being a "noble", i dont plan to get any benefits out of that at all it just makes more sense that a noble house would still practice the art of bae'qeshel.

Thanks a lot !!

The Zau'afins still practice the art of Bae'Queshel. We are also looking for new people.

Dilarra will probably talk to your drow char about that very soon (atleast she said so, but you can never take the word of a drow seriously :D )

Dilarra and me already had a conversation, and that was brought up. I ordered her to bring you to me.
