Elfsong Tavern forum RP

Just like most other days around this time, an elegantly dressed man steps out of the barber shop, tracing the outline of his goatee with the tip of his finger. The usually satisfied smirk is replaced by a weary look on his face as he eyes the crowded main street of the district.
Such a splendid opportunity to get myself sick.
Jon thinks to himself, letting out a sigh as he moves towards the Elfsong garden patio. He smiles to Joy, offering her a tip of his hat and a handful of silver coins.
"A glass of wyvern whiskey, and keep them coming dear."
He walkes over to his usual seat, glass in his hand, and slumpes down on the chair. He lets out another sigh as he brings the glass up to his lips, drowning both his worries and the foul mood at once in the bitter liquid.

Joy takes the order, secreting the coins in the money pouch at her belt before moving off to fulfil the order. Approaching Jon with a smile on her lips she sets the glass down before him and speaks in her Baldurian accent, her hands on her hips.
"And whose this gentleman sitting here? Because you do not normally sigh so loud, Jon. You'll scare the other customers."

"Sure would be interesting if they held fencing matches out here in the centre of the gate, would give us old things something to talk about. I see you keep your goatee meticulously-styled, too bad there isn't a store where you can get a new face." Valiant said gravely before grinning. I'll have what he's vigorously guzzling down, Joy." Valiant was squinting at the quickly brought glass before him filled with the bitterous liquid.
Peer pressure is simply too hard to resist.I spoke to the caretaker at the birdhouse, and he gave his acqueiscence."
Always with the cryptic-speak of late, you'll be forced to memorize half a dozen disguised personas and keep your lies in a little, portable vault before it's over.
"How is the geo-political climate in Beregost these days, chilly as an ice mephit cavern yet hot as a wart-burning furnace?"
Valiant downed his drink, inevitably. " I am certain your lovely presence will cancel out his scary mannerisms. I'll have another if you'd be so kind, Joy. Gods yes."

Joy serves a similar drink to Valiant as requested. And then another, as he downs the first. She's clearly struggling to understand what Valiant is going on about.
"I wouldn't be knowing about all that sir. I just serve the drinks."
She looks over to Jon.
"Maybe he will get those words better than me?"

A bearded man playing a mandolin, often seen performing for donations in the plaza nearby would wander up to the table with a friendly smile, glancing to Joy and holding up his index finger, indicating the number one.
"I'll have a round, Joy, and put it on my new friend's tab here."
He'd smile, clapping the elegantly dressed man on the back before picking his guitar up in both hands again without waiting for any response.
"Play you a song while you drink? Of course, a man of my talents deserves a little compensation for his time, don't you think?"
He offered them a wry grin now.

Jon gazes out to the street as the people move about their business. He glances up to Joy as the woman approaches, offering her a weary smile.
"The days have been long and the nights restless. I suppose I need some proper rest, that's all."
His eyes then move to Valiant as the man joins him at the table.
"Fencing? That would be something I suppose."
Jon shrugs as he stifles a yawn.
"I'm traveling south in a few days. Beregost, then Nashkel, then Beregost again. Rumors of a series of murders are spreading like wildfire, and then you have your taxes, and the assassination attempt..."
He trails off, frowning as brings the glass to his lips again.
"I'll see for myself in a few days."
He looks to the bearded man for a moment, blinking twice in confusion.
"A song? Sure, when you're done stick around and play that thing of yours for a while. That way I can sigh all I want."
He smirks to Joy as he takes out a few coins, planting them on the table in front of the bearded man.

"I knew you were smart, when I first saw you. Looking at you over there from the plaza, I said to myself, 'now there's a man 't knows a thing or two.'"
The man would scoop up the coins with delight, his speech clearly brown-nosing, and then began to pluck some slow, soft chords out into the air as the others continued to converse, offering one of them a smile every now and again.

Valiant honestly did not mind a perhaps flamboyant show of musical talent, and reckoned it’d take his mind off memories and not have to blunder wildly into another aimless topic. He looked towards the bard languidly, now his arbiter of entertainment, and drank contently before waving over another drink.
“Yes, taxes around the sword coast are already high enough, if anything, the hikes will allow mercenary businesses to thrive since it's an effective way to skirt taxes.I could get accumulated to some lively music indeed. That would seem to grant the opportunity for other fine citizens to join us.”
A smile towards the bearded man.

He offers Valiant a smile before changing songs, the new pace of his chords more upbeat and cheerful than the last one. He'd continue to play for them, at least for now.

Valiant fell lulled by the gentle vibrance of the music, not speaking for awhile. The city had become quieter, peaceful, less populated, and he wondered if the plague spawned such. His appetite had increased, so he ordered some lamb. It went down smooth and heavenly delightful. He could revel in the pleasure of eating this meal thanks to the hunger-stimulating alcohol warming his veins, and warding off the nighttime chill that normally heralded thoughts of death; nightmarish-looking catspaws and succcubus torturing him.
He found his voice, which was a wee more animated, his eyes misted over; admixtured with fiery fervor on the subject. He swiveled his thoughtfully betokened gaze out into the starless black night.
"...Not to mention Beregost law-enforcement has a bizarre conception of thought when they believe a Dawnknight sending a letter to the Council of Six requesting Beregost's annexation from the Land of Intrigue is somehow seditious... Let’s look at the definition of sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch. The knight did not engage in public speech motivating others to riot, no one read the letter but the council in privacy. Calling him seditious is like saying The Spine Of The World is an island."
He drinks wyvern whisky as if it were a rare indulgement, vaguely recalling he was once eaten alive by one. The man sets his glass down delicately before tapping it idly.
A satirical tone is evident now, "Meanwhile you have guards’ rights being infringed upon by magically-heightened voices... wouldn’t want Beregost ravaged by the vicious catastrophe of ongoing peaceful protests that might be as bad as when The Tearfall began; A rain of eggs falling to Faerûn, unleashing the long-dead ancestors of city-razing dragons."
