This nice little how-to was posted by our esteemed member, Ryokami.

1. Go to your pc tool and click on option to bring up your next menu.

2. Make sure "Display Text Macro Panel" is selected yes, Then click apply.

3. Right click on any of the Macro 1. Macro 2. and so on and so on to bring up a menu to set the text speech.

4. Make sure you have your mouse hovered over the "Macro Label" text. You will see a white blinking, that ensures that you can type.

5. Now just hover over the "Macro Text" same as 4. You will see a white blinking to ensure that you cant type.

Now granted you cannot type as much as you can in NWN2 Text Box but it is enough for two sentences or simple macros such as "Nod" "Hello" "Farewell" Stuff of that kind.

I hope this helps everyone, and thank you for implementing the pc tool that allows this ;)

Changing Text Format in Game

If you ever have need to stress a word or a sentence in the game, you can use italics and bold type to help.
Simply surround what you wish to be italicized with or use these for bold text.

Examples:

This text will appear in italics in game

This text will appear in bold letters in game

Note that italic and bold text work well with the macro system for emotes.

Will these allow your character to actually emote? When I try it nothing happens. For example,
"Greetings *bows*"
Only says this and does not do this.

Is there any way to hotkey emotes?

Also, my roommate and I both have had terrible luck with the macros disappearing when we log back in (we save and export characters, but nothing helps). If these macros are lost each time we boot up the computer, then it somewhat defeats the purpose of them.

SHOUT THIS IS ALL COOL AND I LOVE USING IT. BUT HOWEVER I GOT ONE COMPLAINT ABOUT IT..

IT NEVER SEEMS TO SAVE! ONLY ONCE IN AWHILE. AND IT DOES GET FUSTRATING TO ALWAYS REMAKE YOUR CUSTOM TEXT. :(

You can drag some emotes to the hotbar. Press V to bring up the emote menu and drag whatever emote you want, it doesn't work for all emotes though.

I made some macros but they didn't save over reset. (I saved the character with pc tools prior)

They never have. It's an unfortunate frustration that has never been fixed. I suppose it can't be. My advice, don't bother with macros unless just after a server reset and you're going to be playing for hours.

Macros have started saving over reset for me suddenly. Edit: Thank you to whoever was responsible.

Same for me *epic thumbs up* but:
When I edit a Macro, I have to relog to get the buttons back up, otherwise I just have the edit box available but I can only re-edit the current macro.
Frustrating.
