darkness spell and blind fighting-valid tactic?

Due to the benefits of displacement I got to thinking about other ways to gain concealment and was wondering if it would be a valid tactic to drop a darkness spell on yourself when you have blind fight and have a mob which could overwhelm you? Would this do enough to tip the odds in your favor or is this generally a bad idea, even with blind fight?
Thanks!

Lots of builds use this tactic if they have a spell list or can use scrolls. I would make sure to have either darkvision or truesight up as well though. Just in case.

A feinter might do well with this tactic as well.

You can also target the spell so that it affects only your toon.. This can work on boss fights where you plant your toon then cast the spell so it only affects your toon, giving you concealment. You need to aim it so that your opponent is outside the AOO so they do not also gain concealment.

It is the spell Blind Sight that pierces Darkness. I haven't tested it, but according to the Wiki it's the only spell that does.
