Background: Jerel comes from a well to do family in the capital city of Halruaa. His father is
a diplomat for the council of mages therefore is gone often. His mother is an artisan of some
renown specializing in sculptures and pottery. Having shown a a keen intellect early on, Jerel
had the advantage of being enrolled in the best academies. He pursued knowledge related to the art of diplomacy and took a keen interest in the arts. No doubt his parents influences.
Although he didn't have his mother's talent, he learned to appraise such works with a very keen eye. He also discovered he like to tinker with devices of all kinds. With the encouragement of his head master, and his parents agreement, he was sent to the Sword
Coast to become an acolyte at Candlekeep. He arrived on the coast to find it uncivilized and
far from what he expected. He persevered and was finally granted an interview from the Guide of Candlekeep. No doubt the letter of recommendation from his father, a court member of Halruaan, and his headmaster, helped.
He quickly acclimated to life at Candlekeep studying hard and doing the chores all acolytes
participate in. The Guide made very clear he would get no special treatment due to his
background. So, early to rise, late to bed, and sore from a hard day's labor. He found the
conversations with other acolytes stimulating and genuinely enjoyed their company.
Future goals: To become a seeker, then scribe at Candlekeep. Also wants to avail his talents
into a new role of ambassador for Candlekeep. Clearly the current Guide lacks such skills.
