Sshamath Arcanist's RP Thread

A few slaves bearing the emblem of Sshamath's School of Illusion and Phantasm can be seen posting notices up around the Gloura's Wing and within the Dark Weavings Bazaar.
"Usstan, Nymrath of the Magthere of Illusion and Phantasm, seek to hire swords to explore the caverns of the Basilisks. There will be moments when dos will be called upon to slay the reptile, or multiple reptiles for what usstan seek. Be prepared. The journey can, and will be, treacherous but the reward will be great and it may open the door for future opportunities to earn riches, should usstan be impressed. Leave word at the gate of the prestigious Magthere of the Illusion and usstan will respond."

A jalil, her face concealed by a diaphanous veil of blue silk looks up from a small worn book and watches him for a moment. Reaching beneath the table, she pulls out a strange creature resembling a short thick snake covered in a rich dark brown fur.
Lifting the creature to her face, she makes a few noises that sound like a squeaking kisses, then setting it on the ground it moves in a bouncing undulating scamper after the jaluk. The furry creature follows the drow for a while to see where he goes, his mistress following a bit behind.
The male continues to walk on a ways, taking various paths and stops briefly at a crystal merchant within the Bazaar.
As the male pauses to regard a collection of raw crystals, a tall and lanky masked drowess awkwardly wearing a rather revealing scarlet gown of dyed silk and bearing an insignia of the School of Magery, rank Wizard, steps up beside the male and quietly regard the same crystals.
Without turning to face the male, she speaks from behind the mask, her voice softly even, "Basilisks, intriguing..
He continues to stare on at the crystals in front him, careful to mask his surprise...or was there surprise?
Instead, he speaks to the crystals in response "Yes..I seek a specific specimen, though I will not know it until I see it with my own eyes. You wear the sigil of an Arcanist so I am sure you understand. You have hunted the beasts before?" He continues speaking to the crystals, examining each.
"Basilisks..." her voice droning a bit as if reciting a dissertation or lecture, "a rather dull-witted and primitive reptilian divergence that can kill with a glance. Some conjecture the creature's eyes are capable of emitting a particular frequency of energy or radiation which upon entering the eyes of another living creature begins a process of rapid calcification. Interestingly, this process does not cause death in the victim, but rather brings about a type of non-awareness, often called 'stone sleep.'"
Pausing for a moment, she stands quietly before turning to face the male; her crimson eyes studying him from behind an ornate mask.
"I have some knowledge, gained from books, but my personal interaction with the creatures has been limited to harvesting eggs while safely hidden behind an illusion."
"What precisely do you propose?"
He stares looking straight ahead as she speaks, listening to the words with a faint smile and nod. As she finishes, he turns to her, gaze meeting hers.
"Why, I mean to remove their eyes of course."

The jalil's masked face tilts slightly to her right as she asks in an curiously interested tone "In a lab or in the field? "

He smiles "I must..MUST collect it while some remnant of heat and life energy remains in it's body. This is a field operation."

Her crimson eyes narrow as she regards the jaluk for a moment of intense silence.
"Very well," her formality returning, "I am versed in an enchantment that will render the beast docile enough to attempt this, provided you are quick about it. I will offer my assistance under the condition that you share the results of your research with me."

He stares at the female for a moment, his mouth forming into a small smile of understanding.
"The reptile has two eyes. You take one, and I, the other. Then, we compare what we have individually discovered"

Woedeiir, too casually by half, saunters up to Nymrath smiling sweetly.
"I learned you seek to aquire some fresh components faern Nymrath. Since I wager you are not inclined to call the favour?" Her smile thining slightly as she pauses before picking up again in step with her next words.
"My familiar and I were wondering if you would allow us to accompany you on this novel expedition. We require naught but a matching pair of the eyes you claim to seek in securing you my invaluable support."
Her smile turn toothy as she wait for his response while pulling a few imaginary creases out of the hem of her dress in silence.
The runes of divination embroidered into the silk sparkle in a silvery sheen.
"You might actually say no at this occasion." She admits cheerily.

"That would be.., " cutting herself off mid sentence, the masked jalil turns her attention to Woediir, tilting her head slightly in surprise at the interruption.

Woedeiir arch a brow at the other female before adding a slight nod as if in promise of words soon to be shared.

The male drow attempts to hide his shock inwardly, as he sees Woediir approaching.
"She is getting much stronger in her divinations, this one. Stronger than my illusions, she always finds me...." He thought to himself.
But as she approached, he forced a smile and bowed low to the Faern. "You have learned correctly, Faern Woediir. But the favor I intend to ask could go unsaid, for I am sure you already know what it will be. But it is not this."
He stands there for a moment, contemplating the two females in front of him for a brief second, before continuing on.
"Your safety is not guaranteed, and your payment is based on myself gaining what I need and RETURNING back to Sshamath, alive and breathing.." He emphasizes the last three words with a look towards Woediir.

With a quick stride, and one or two small leaps, Nawiel comes towards them, waving what appears to be a deck of cards over her head. "Hello, you two! I have been looking for you."
Her stride slows as she comes closer, nodding to the masked individual to show that she isn't ignoring her. "You two have to look at these for a moment, and tell me your opinion."
She holds out the, apparently non-magical tarot deck.

The young male notices Nawiel's approach and inclines his head ever so slightly.
"Greeti-" He eyes the cards. "After you, Woediir."

She chuckles bemusedly "Stalling the answer faern Nymrath? Have no fear, I will let you think on it a little longer."
He gets a wide smile that soon fade as she gaze upon Nawiel and her mundane deck of cards.
"You come to show us some novel parlor trick I assume?" Woedeiir watch Nawiel guardedly.
"Perhaps this lovely female would want to sample the extent of your game first." She glance briefly towards the masked jali while keeping an eye on Nawiel.

Giving Woedeiir a wide smile in return, Nawiel replies, "I am glad you have not donned your mask again, but no. Parlor tricks is for the illusionist. With you, I thought to ask the fortune telling side of these."
She gives the masked jalil a quick once over. "I interupted trade, or something more important? A competition ?"
