Belar doesnt speak much about his origin because its something he would like to erase of his mind. He grew up within the house Arabt'tar, which means daugthers of victory, a minor of Sshamath. Over the past centuries this house went through several catastrophes, problems and conflicts and all these that ended in victories have been led by females. At least, thats what Belar has been told in his earlier years. Its no surprise that sons within the house were utterly disliked and most of them dont reach adulthood. Some got killed, some banned, or sacrificed. In Belars case, he got sold to a foreign wizard that tried to settle down in Sshamath. For quite a while he served him as hidden slave until his master discovered his magical talent and thus became his apprentice.
Years passed and Belars arcane prowess profited greatly from having a personal mentor. Eventually this kind of partnership came to an end as his master left the city and gave him an signed letter for the school of necromancy. So he joined the school...
Because of his past Belar excelled very well in the first classes but soon he discovered that his mind couldnt follow things as fast as other of his class could. He feared beeing outmatched by the others and searched a way to compensate this. He found it on the market - magical jewellery. A ring that will enhance his intellect. In exchange for this ring Belar stole a vampire stone from the guild. It was never discovered and with the ring's help he excelled in the last classes, too. Eventually Amon (mar3usmc's gone char), another leader of the school got aware of Belar and took him as favored apprentice. It seemed like he would have a great career as necromancer ahead.
Someday he made one mistake - He was sent out to the marketplace to get some reagents for the school. He met a few drows that spoke about Velshar, right hand of Tsabrak of the Blood. They complained about him and his quest to his friend that "lives" in the catacombs outside the city. Belar stepped in and joined their talking pattern and went one step further. He made fun of Velshar. He argued that Velshar could not enjoy sarcasm or laugh. They all seemed to like making fun of Velshar. Free speech is very dangerous within the city and thus the consequences didnt wait long. A circle later Belar got caught in his room and brought to the torture chamber where Velshar already waited for him...
He barely survived the procedure that was held for a few days. He lost his right arm, some toes and a fraction of his mind. Thanksfully Amon noticed what happened and stopped it as he saw what Belar already had endured. Amon discussed with Valshar and eventually offered him a deal. A wicked deal that was one of the reasons that drove Amon into exil years later.
Belar's arm got attached back to him with the use of a necromantic ritual. It was a curse and a blessing to him. Perhaps more a blessing because he was not allowed to follow the path of the necromancer anymore.
In everyone's life comes the point where he has to decide which way he will go. Belar stayed within the school and choosed the way of the necromantic knights. He wanted to prove himself in Velshar's eyes. To redeem himself.
At the beginning of his knight training the school sent him to the melee magthere where he had to prove himself. Patrols and physical combat replaced his book and corpse study. About 3 years ago he came back into the school of necromancy to continue his training there and to fillful his duties as knight. Whenever he walks the entry hall he tries to stay out of Velshars sight or whoever he remembers from his time as necromancer.

Belar worked on his duties quite well and was soon enlisted as Barra Trisil for the black brigade.
Personality Profile:
Belar is not much different than the stereotypical Drow. He likes to see others crumble in pain and agony, to watch others face their own death and to animate their corpses into his service as a final laugher at them. He knows that he lost his chance to become a High Necromancer but eventually found another goal: To rise to the rank of a Quortek Ogrim (Soul Reaper). For this he keeps a close eye on his rivals and secretly prepares their fall. But most of his concentration he spends on doing his duties for the school and on training his melee skills. He knows that these will once determine his final rank.
Some of his general “likes” are: necromantic research and body adjustments, patrols deep into the wilderness, collecting rat skulls, the art of "Slicing enemies". Some of his general “dislikes” are: Driders, as they are the ultimate torture in his eyes, young necromancers who think they are already on the top.

General Health: He has survived a torture that severed his right arm. His Health is good.

Deity: Kiransalee, the Lady of the Dead

Alignment: After his torture, Lawful evil. He commited himself completely to the school of necromancy. Whatever his master demand from him, he will do it. Even if that means his death. He acts very methodically, always looks for the best result for his school athough he follows his own interests. He has one particular taboo: never animate a gnome's corpse.

Profession: Necromantic Knight of the School of Necromancy, Rank 3: Barra Trisil (sergeant))

Base Class & Proposed Development: Necromancer/Fighter

Habits/Hobbies:
Belars is a member of the black brigade, which is assigned to escort necromancers on missions outside of the city and to collect rare body parts for unusual experiments. Beside his duties he still enjoys the necromantic craft he once learned and tries to mentally bend his undead control into his fighting style."A ghoul-grabbled enemy is your next animated friend." He usually trains this "two-man-style" on patrols or missions. From time to time he also enjoys social encounters and a good drink within Glourias wings. After all, undeads dont talk and are poor lovers.

Languages: Drow, Drowsign, Undercommon, Draconic, Elven, Gnome, Arcane, Orc

Weapon of Choice: Greatsword and his animated "friends"

Goals:
1) Regain a prestige status within the School of Necromancy. Redeem himself in the eyes of Velshar.
2) Reach Rank 8 within the Order of the Necromantic Knights: the "Quortek Ogrim" - also called "the Soul Reaper".
3) Gather a patrol for exploring the further-away underdark (underdark wilds and upper underdark)
4) Create a social network for pleasures and of course ambushes on his school-interna rivals

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Belar works for the school of necromancy. Everything that is related to undeads also interests the school and thus, him.
He likes rat skulls. One of his dream is to command a swarm of undead rats that are capable of casting arcane magic.
He recently collected mind flayer tentacles for Jabress Vaszyne Ken'urdan. Together they animated some zombies that can extract brains like Ilithids.
Because of his immunities he is often assigned for patrols into the Illithid infested areas.
