Tips for pure melee 2h?

So I've decided to make a pure melee user, as warriors are usually the easiest to play.
That being said, I've long since forgotten how to build characters on this PW.
I'd like to use a two-handed weapon, though don't know which one I should use. I was thinking a 2-h sword.
For armor, I'd like to use full plate or half plate for an AC bonus since I won't be using a shield.
As an added bonus, I think I'll try to find a way to get some damage reduction. Not sure how I'll do that.
Race will be human for bonus feat.
Any tips or builds you have to recommend would be loved.
~ Thank you in advance

YOu'd be surprised the kind of stuff you can get away with by mixing Rogue/Fighter. It opens up alot of PrCs because of the wide selection of skills and feats you can mix. Just get your Str/Dex/Int to the proper level for any feats or skills you need for the PrC and you're golden Pony Boy.
As an example heres what I got my stats as at the moment. With it I chose Power attack, Dodge, Mobility, Cleave, Weapon focus Greatsword. Im doing pretty solid work if I do say so myself with the build currently and I survive pretty well. I made sure to put 10 points into Tumble, and plan to put more there ASAP. Always go for Full-plate if your dex is lower than like, 20. Always. Ignore Half-Plate as much as possible. That 8/1 is far superior than 7/0
Str: 18
Dex: 13
Con: 16
Int: 13
Wis: 10
Cha: 10
Im currently doing a Rogue/Fighter/Anointed Knight. At level 10 Im sitting on 30 AC, and do an average of 24 damage per hit. Im 2handing a Greatsword and I got both DR and elemental damage on my weapons coming up soon.

Very nice, though I'm not sure how a rogue would fit into my build rp-wise.
I should have clarified, my character is aiming to become a "knight." So I'm not sure a rogue would go well with my character.
That being said, it was good advice! Thank you.

There are a good number of ways to make what you described so far so more precisions are always good, if rogue is out of the picture I imagine frenzied berserker is out as well ?

http://nwn2db.com/build/?163779 - I dont think you can get any 2hander with more AC than this. Good damage, it gets great with Dervish dance x5 per day and 1000cuts x3 per day.

As a two-hander you want to kill things fast.
So consider to add 5 levels of frenzied berserker for more carnage (enhanced power attack).
For good damage reduction and more defence - you want a dwarf (dwarven defender).
Anointed Knight is a good class, go for either 4 levels or 10.
Good greataxes are a more frequently offered at the auctioneer than greatswords. There is even a very good and cheap greataxe at a certain vendor available, if you can handle that one

What about Fighter12/WM7/AKX and then something else?
Very knightly, does decent damage, especially when you crit, you can get some DR from heavy armor specialization/optimization whatever.
AC might not the best in the world, all that said *shrugs* and you'll struggle to do damage very well compared to a frenzied berserker, obviously.
Personally Fighter12/Wm7/AK7/Bodyguard 4 seems like an interesting build, if not exactly the strongest character you'll see.

All so far above have been great suggestions, but I would like to clarify RP wise how a rogue fits in with a Knight
Rogues, as far as Im concerned are the everyman class in D&D. Its mostly skill based, so basically you're a normal person with a lot of skills spread out how you wish it. You can ignore the open lock part and just go all diplomacy and tumble and things that are not roguish, just normal human beings. I suppose sneak attacking isnt very Knightly, but yknow =P

You can do very correct things with simple and completely knightly splits too:
http://nwn2db.com/build/?220994
This has good AB (44), damage (45,5), 12 DR and about as much AC (43) as possible for a two hander in heavy armor, good fort and will saves. This version is min/maxed quite a bit but that is not necessary.

Uh, I love that build, if only because it uses fighter up to level 20
Edit: Nevermind

Tip:
potion of shield, mage armor, and barkskin will be very helpful.

Vale: No improved critical on the greatsword? Not worth a feat to crit more often?
Edit: Ran your build through Jegs Bgtscc builder, had a feat at fighter level 10, so its all good.

The build had it at first then i switched it for improved knockdown ... I must say i don't know for certain, will that STR score be enough with simple knockdown ? If yes then improved crit sounds like a good idea !
Edit : oh lol forgot a feat indeed

Also, can't seem to hit 44 AC, I got +4 everything save for +3 dodge boots and I am only at 42 AC.

It also needs a +3 DEX item, maybe it's that ?
