Charlie's Item Appearance Changer?

I've played on other servers in the past that use Charlie's Item Appearance Changer (at least I think this is the right custom app). It basically let's characters access a dressing room in which they can customize armor. For example, for a suit of plate armor you can change the overall base suit as well as type of shoulder pieces, elbow pieces, forearem pieces, etc., and also the color/tint of each piece. There are lots and lots of options, and can include custom content as decided by the developer team.

I know that on this server we can also use the toolset and have the items we make imported via DM assistance. I personally find the toolset a complete pain to work with (might just be my own ineptitude). This custom app makes things so much simpler, and also takes the hassle off DMs having to import stuff.

I would imagine the dev team is aware of this addon, so I'm just wondering why it hasn't been implemented on this server. Any particular reason(s) for this? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

EDIT: I forgot to add a link - here's at least one location to the add-on: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn ... ce-changer

I have heard discussions about this before. I know it use to be on the old ToA server before it died. The most common reason for not implementing it that I have heard was that it occasionally doubled items. I am not sure how true this is though as it never happened to me. To sum it up though I think everyone wants this added in.

Id be happy if simply the tints/colors could be customized.

Umm, that's already in the game. From the player menu choose 'Change Appearance'.

That works with "sets". As in, every appearance is pre-made in the toolset, and can't be changed beyond adding a quiver with >quiver command.

This one would allow you to change colour, model and everything you want out of a specific list, add pauldrons, spikes whatever you want.

Ah, ok. I did not realize that Charlies mod could do that.

We'd never see you again. You'd be getting all your boots just the right color!

Charlie's Item Appearance Changer does have an innate bug where certain items can be duplicated and is therefore unfit for implemention in its pure form.

This, however, can be circumvented by just putting it all in a special room with mannequins, only allowing certain 'basic' items meant for appearance changing to be changed, and then with a purchaseable token (make it weigh 400 pounds if you don't want characters to be able to change on the fly), to be able to transfer the appearance of the item to your real item.

A bit like the current regeneration cloak modification system works, changing by proxy.

I heard, through other admins of other servers, that this was fixed a while ago?

Bumping this thread to see if this Charlie's Appearance Changer idea can get any traction with the developer team. It appears many of us would really appreciate if it could be implemented on the server. Whether the bugs have been fixed (as LISA100595 suggests) or if we need to use "changing rooms" (per Karris above), then how about adding it in? Sure would be nice to have such an easy way to alter armor and equipment styles.

This would indeed be a boon for players it works nicely and many other servers use it with no problems. I know the Devs are busy but this is a player boon and would be awesome.
