Ranger HiPS in outdoor/natural areas question

Unread post by Valeron »

I understand fully the outdoors part of ranger HIPS, but can someone please clarify what would be considered as a natural area? Is that like a cave setting similar to a lot of the dungeons?

a natural area is anywhere flagged as natural in the toolset, its generally outdoors only and probably very few caves

its literally a check box in the toolset tho that can be just as easily on as it can be off so testing it is somethin you would have to do and just remember where it works and doesnt work

the troll cave near CK, likely natural as its all cave but someone could have simply never checked the box

the gobo cave near beregost, unlikely to be natural because of the underground ruins but someone could have easily checked the box anyway

natural areas you just have to figure out the hard way, stealth and make sure they dont see you first, unstealth and stealth again and if they stop its a natural area

In my experience on the server ranger hips only works in outdoor natural settings. The PRC Cavestalker allows for those ranger abilities to work in indoor natural caverns and such, at least in theory. In practice only SOME of the caverns that seem to be natural work with the cavestalker abilities and as I understand it, none of the underdark areas.

yes, yes it is, along with half of the other areas im sure

natural area is such a minor thing and easy to miss, but completely messes up that ability
