Re: The A.N.T.I Expedition
Omar and Narasida are seen recently together, sitting at a bar table, mulling over the most recent A.N.T.I. assignment. Omar seems to be giving some sort of debriefing to Narasida, murmering to her about several topics.
He seems to be going over a caravan expedition, for some sort of trade route. He outlines to her that "they" entered a village in a mountain pass. He tells her that there is a priestess of Auril, who will demand tribute there, and that that seems to coincide well with a group of Auril-Worshipping frost giants, whom reside in the mountains where they must travel. He makes mention that the giants would like a tribe of three-hundred goblins, and a tribe of a few dozen giants eliminated in exchange for safe passage, stating that they have that mission to carry out, should they choose this particular route. He also reminds her that within the forest, they will need to ensure that any damage to the wild is taken care of, any tree felled should be replaced, and that the lion-like memics will need to be herded to a safe destination. He also notes that the village that hunts the memics, presumably for food and hide should be informed if the memics are herded. Whilst on the topic of this village, he notes that the village should be a good place for the caravans to rest, and that they would certainly be welcome, as mention as made of the village being atleast partially ruled by merchants. In addition, the hunters of the village did claim that caravans would be a welcome sight.
Omar seems particularily pleased with this route, and talks of it with a measure of gusto, stating that it seems like it would play out. However, he does dim down after a while, warning that they should be careful, if the route seems to good to be true, and that they would keep their options open.

Re: The A.N.T.I Expedition
"if it were easy, everyone would do it."
Narasida had made that her mantra in the past weeks, whenever reflecting on the challanges this endevour had put in front of her. Like the one she was about to face. Sitting inside the dark of a small caravan with her small team. She had considered teleporting to where her scouting mission was supposed to start, but decided to to follow the exact road future trade would have to take.
So here she was, the caravan shaking more as the road became less developed. Off to drop her and hers just south of the city of Riatavin, as the wheels of the caravan hit a large stone, sending the entire room shaking even more, Narasida tried to fight the growing sensation in her belly with a mental exercise she was now practicing since about ten years.
she closed her eyes, projecting herself in her thoughts into the future. envisioning herself, with the perfect daughter she so desperatly wanted to have. all the work now, all the pain, betralys and suffering, all the power she was collecting, given to her child. seeing her grow, teaching her, politics, people, magic and more. seeing her daughter grow and surpass her mother. The day her own dauther would not need her anymore, having become so much more, that would be the proudest day of her life. and maybe, just maybe, if things were good she would one day again, meet her Sh-
a knock from outside the caravan ripped her out of her thoughts. "we'll arrive in a few minutes milady" came the voice of the caravans driver, barely audiable through the thick wood and all the noise of the road. She took a deep breath, looking around the ones she had gathered.
Sitting next to her she had Grainne, a constant source of gloominess and far too dependent on others to be given any task outside Narasidas supervision to be trusted to reliably complete. But she would follow Narasida to the nine hells if just asked to and was a relyable bodyguard.
Opposite of Grainne sat Ariente, Narasida had marked her as "useful but trouble in the waiting". Where Grainne could be trusted but not trusted to act, Ariente could be trusted to act in her own interest, or since their falling out a few weeks ago, maybe even against Narasidas. None the less she was a scholar, strong in magic, had a clever head on her shoulders, was well connected in the north, had not yet given any actual reason to be distrusted and caught a glance of just how Narasida could get if driven into a corner. She was still a valuabe asset.
Finally next to Ariente, Omar was seated. That man was too good to be true. Educated in the matters of architecture, showing initative for the mission and diplomatic as well. Narasida did not put any stock in what they say about gifted horses though. something likely was up with that one, she vowed to keep her attention up on him. Giving him the most important tasks in what was about to follow should show if is actions could hold to what he claimed.
The caravan came to a halt. As Narasidas feet hit the ground leaving the vehicle she realized the downside of "dressing for the occasion". Being just a little taller than the usual woman Narasida liked to underline that fact by wearing heeled boots. Meeting men on an eye to eye level was a factor to not be ignored. But as she had to adjust some of her wear to the occasion, which meant travelling through unknown territory, she had decided on plain walking-boots. She suddenly noticed how she had to look up to the caravan guards that had brought her there. the same would be true for most men she might encounter on her travel. a reason more to leave the talking to Omar, standing behind him and leaving him to introduce his employer would give her back the edge she might have lost in size.
shortly after instuctions were made the group started on their way, though leaving Ariente at Riatavin in order to gather information. as the other three were heading up the snowflake mountains, Narasida felt the soft crunch of freshly fallen snow under her boots reminding her why they were here today, scouting the most remote route.
she had sought contact to the black network to see if further support for her endevour could be found there. the A.N.T.I was well enough financed but more money would never be a bad thing and they were lacking educated people which the Dread Lord promised they could provide. negotiations though had gone less than expected until the network had hit her with a deadline on when to answer wether she wanted to take the deal or not. being so disrespectful as giving her a deadline would usually have meant the end of negotiations right there, but Narasida forced herselt to be aware that this was business. and she had to put aside minor slights when business as important as this was at hand. "if it were easy, everyone would do it." So she had gathered to scout the most eastern of possibly ways. the only one the black network would not support. Part of her had hoped for this road to prove absolutly unuseable, making the decision some easier.
Though easy was not available today. they encountered giants, but these could be bought. She let Omar do the talking and send Grainne to scout the area. if the Giants word was to be believed the snows would not increase by a lot, given a few minor services to Auril by passing caravans. Narasida took a brief mental note: "trusting giants, not good". The local wildlife aside from the giants was hostile enough to injure her bodyguard but easy enough to handle.
----
some time later, back in her mansion in Athkatla, she pondered the rest of the mission. Her first scoutig trip along Uldoons Trail that ended half the way in had seen Werewolves and Goblins but was yet not fully done. This one had Giants, that could be bought, Snows, that would not increase, lateron some Beasts, that could be resettled and possibly even local Townsfolk she could hire to do the dirty work for her. This path had just the right amount of trouble in it to potentially become a pain, but not enough to outright refuse.
She sighted, looking out of the window along Athkatlas evening-skyline, a pretty sight to her. This would not be an easy choice and there remained a third path yet fully unscouted. "Paulina" she adressed her secretary, raising her voice just enough to be heard outside of the room. "fetch paper and ink, i want to dictate a letter." thinking on the events that had passed and what would have to come, waiting for her secretary she mumbled to herself. "If it were easy, everyone would do it."
